    New here, injured.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and was looking for opinions from some educated/well-informed people on the matter.
I am 19 yrs old, 5"7 and have been lifting for ~12 months. I recently incurred a right shoulder injury where it became progressively worse over the period of 3-4 weeks and has showed no signs of healing in the past 2 months even with no strenuous activity and using shoulder strengthening exercises.
I got an x-ray/US and the results came back saying I had a small muscle tear and also a muscle impingement in two different areas of the shoulder. Note this is not a rotator cuff injury like most people appear to have. The way it was written makes it seem like they aren't anything major but I haven't noticed any signs of it healing now and it's been about 3-4 months.
I was told a Cortizone shot is the next option to look at. What is the best way about getting a cortizone shot? Do you just get it prescribed from a GP? I was also wondering if any type/s of anabolic steroids would heal a muscle injury (I've been told they will?)
I was contemplating doing my first cycle within the next 6-12 months and was wondering if it would have any affect, be that negative or positive, on my shoulder if I started a cycle earlier than initially anticipated.
Sorry for the naivety of this post but I've become quite frustrated at the fact I've now had nearly 4 months off training upper body.

Any tips, ideas, suggestions, information etc is more than welcome. Thanks!

Welcome...Consult a doctor on the subject. AAS would not be the answer right now.

Welcome, ^^^^ see your doctor. I'm fortunate my Dr. does many of these types of small procedures in house maybe yours does as well or a referral to a shoulder specialists..

You will need a referral to a specialist from your family m.d, I have had a similar injury (tear of the coracoid tendon) and it it fine now. Took about a year to get 100% but I was older than you when it happened.
Basically, it is a procedure done in hospital, and usually it will be a "Cortisone injection guided by Ultrasound" the doctor will follow the injury using the Ultrssound and inject a mixture or Cortisone piggybacked with some anathstetic for freezing. Feels weird afterwards but you feel better very fast. Remember, the Golden Rule of Healing is 1%\day, so it will most likely be 3 months from the injection before you should very carefully start building strength. Hope this helps Gl man.

    Welcome to the board Mate,
Quite obviously, at 19, really too young for any steroids. So let's put that to bed. If you have any questions why, let me know and I can load you up with some reading material as to how steroids at your age can implact the final development of your hormonal system and what that can do to you for the rest of your life. OK, enough of that.
Now, as far as the shoulder, obviously you need to stop all routines that involve that muscle group. You need to encourage healing, not aggrevate it. There might be something out there you can take to promote healing. I'm not saying this is right for you, because maybe it isn't. But it's worked for me in other areas of healing and pain relief. Just think about it as an option to consider.
