Hello from Toronto, new TRT Guy

I have already posted a few messages in the TRT forum, so I guess I am late posting an intro...

I am a 42 year old average guy from Toronto. Have a great wife and beautiful little girl. Never been interested in bodybuilding, never done gear, but have played sports and gone to the gym recreationally all of my life.

Last year, with the birth of my daughter, and a stressful job, I went on anti-repressants. Kept eating well and going to the gym, but was amazed when I piled on 30 pounds in a year (of pure fat!) while simultaneously losing strength! Went to the doc, and was found to have low T and low Free T3, though just inside the ranges. (So if I were an 88 year old man I may be doing ok.)

Anyway, got an Rx for Test E., and decided to start doing my own research when I started injections. Learned so much from this site already! It is a great community. Thanks!

    Welcome.

Check out the HRT forums. Lots of valuable info, and some of the best people in the HRT world in there.

Anti-Depressants can lower Test level's. Do you have any baseline of test before you started your AD's? If I were you I would come off them for 6 months and try to lose the fat by dieting and then retest your test level's. You might not need anything.

Thanks for the response. I was on Celexa, but I am off it now. (I was also on Wellbutrin, off that too.) Many SSRIs in general cause weight gain, and Celexa in particular can sometimes (supposedly rarely) depress T3 levels. I may be one of the rare instances...

As I say, I am off the SSRIs now. But losing fat by dieting just doesn't make sense to me because I gained 30 lbs without changing my diet! I don't eat like a bodybuilder, but I eat much cleaner than your average 42 year old. One beer a day, sugar only on Sat and Sunday, and not much then either. I eat less junk and similar-sized portions as my 160 pound wife and I am almost 100 pounds heavier. Often I eat less than her! It just doesn't add up.
