What advice are you looking for specifically? When did you train last? You said you're starting after Christmas. Did you train before the lay off period and how long ago?

Best place to start would be nutrition. Find out what and how much you need to eat to reach your goals. I would start by dropping some bf first and your nutrition plan will help with that.

Ive never really trained religiously. I was one of those guys that took out a gym membership with little knowledge, going with a few friends, thinking id get big and lean in weeks. Never had a strict diet, always ate what i want when i want.

Ive done 3 months of research in mainly the diet and nutrition forum. Im just wondering whether it would be best to start by losing bf, using a strict diet, a lot of cardio and start lifting, practicing good technique and trying out diffrent things? Or choose a diet that will help me get bigger, start lifting and getting stronger, then cut bf?

Well, the two goals don't have to be mutually exclusive. With the right nutrition and training you CAN add LEAN body mass and drop bf.

Fasted cardio 3-5 days a week is a good way to drop bf with a clean diet. Alternatively, 4-5 days off HITT cardio will help lean you out. I prefer the former (fasted).

Your nutrition is vital. Post some questions in the nutrition section on what and how to eat for LBM and then put together a strength and cardio program to gradually build strength and cut fat. It takes time but with a commitment you will get there!

Ok great, thats pretty much my goal for now, cut bf and add LBM.

Ive looked into diffrent ways of doing fasted cardio and tbh that sounds better for me as i am the kinda guy that would rather get up and get it done.

If theres one thing ive learnt, that is that nutrition is vital, which i never knew before. Thanks for your guidance

I made my best lean gains doing the breathing squat 3 x week. Just something to think about.
