    Welcome

Melatonin and Tylenol PM are much better options.

Valium is fine imo but won't work if you take it every night and it's habit forming and addictive. I would try melatonin or diphenhydramine (the active sleep ingredient in Tylenol PM, or a any other sedating anti-histamine). Reserve valium for the occasional really bad night of insomnia.

Good advice from StPete and anabolic doc. I've had sleeping problems most of my adult life. Valium has a half life of around 200 hours in addition to being addictive and prone to tolerance (you have to keep increasing the dose to get the same effect over time). That's not what you want to be using for sleep as you can do the math. It builds up in your body due to the extremely long half. I took a short acting benzo for about a year but I got so tolerant to it that it was like taking a placebo (ativan, xanax). Diphenhydramine and doxylamine both cause antihistamine hangover. I'm currently using ambien but it has its own set of evils. It works though and no hangover. Problem is that my neighbors said I wanted to cook them dinner at 4am in my jammies and I don't rememberer it

I hope melatonin works for you. I'm not thrilled with any of the sleeping pill pharmas and would love to be able to use something natural. Austimite has a 'sleep protocol' made up of otc stuff but hasn't posted it yet. I'm going to try it when he gets it posted. Gl.

Some otc's in addition to melatonin are:
    -Valerian root
    -GABA
    -Lemon balm (Melissa officianalis)
    -Tryptophan
