Finally back

I am a former competitor hvy wt class. I started competing as a teen in NYC. A few years ago I got into a serious car accident I finally got clearance to train again a few months ago. Im ready to use gear again here is my first question. I have a bottle of winny that I got a year ago I had taken the plastic top off but never used it or punctured the rubber. It has been in a zip lock bag and in a shoe box. the ext date is 5/15. can I still use this? I have never in my experience held onto gear longer than a few months and that was never taking the tops off so this is new to me. thanks for the info
