So I'm on the tail end of my first cycle right now and I discovered this site a couple weeks ago. Really wish I had been paying better attention to this forum and the knowledge here when I was planning, but better late than never.
I'm 30 yrs old 5'10'' 183 lbs 9% BF. I don't do a whole lot of HIT style workouts. I try to balance my focus on strength, size, and work capacity evenly. I do a lot of olympic lifts and gear those regimens toward strength building. I also do a lot of resistance based circuits. Please don't confuse that with crossfit! I also vary my routines heavily, usually changing things around every month. In the past I spent 2 years doing military athlete workouts. Don't know if anyone's familiar with that, it's a very heavy mix of strength, work capacity, and cardio. In the end it was too much cardio for me and didn't give attention to the smaller muscle groups. I'm a hard gainer and my body likes to sit at 165lbs, I need to keep cardio minimal to gain weight. Even at 30 my metabolism is still through the roof.
