Hello, I've been lurking for a while and figured I'd finally say hi and thanks. I'm 38 years old, 6'1", and currently 295 pounds, still high bf. I was in a bike accident 10 years ago that left me bed ridden for a year and disabled due to a non load-bearing ankle. Watched my weight increase to almost 400lbs and realized I had to do something about it.
So I tried numerous fad diets; atkins, hcg starvation diets, fasting, etc. Naturally I had temporary results from these but the weight just piled back on and with one working ankle cardio options are quite limited. The realization that there was no quick fix was quite depressing. I thought about who has the best handle on diet and the conclusion I came to was, of course, bodybuilders. That led me here. After much reading in the diet section I established my tdee, set my macros, and started logging all my intake. It took over six months but I am very happy to say that I have finally dropped below 300 and feel like my weight is much more stable.
I just want to say thank you to everyone here for the information and motivation that has helped me so far. My journey is far from over but with the gains I've made so far I feel I am finally ready to start moving some weight and hopefully one day I'll be a monster like so many of you are. Thank you so much!!
