    Understanding whats happening.

    Hi,

So I work 14/14 days with unlimited access to a gym at work. I keep my diet extremely clean cut out carbs except for 2 times a week at one meal and load on protein and veggies.

I have extreme drastic changes in my body in these 2 weeks time. Attached is a comparison picture of my first day at work vs the last day leaving.

I think I'm a huge responder to carbs. When I go home with no gym and I lighten up diet ill easily pack on 10-15 pounds in 14 days.

    Any insight would be appreciated!

"Carbohydrates, or carbs, also cause the body to store extra water. When we eat carbs, the energy that we do not use right away is stored as glycogen molecules. Each gram (g) of glycogen comes with 3 g of water attached."

    One pound is 454 grams.
So every extra 100 grams of carbs makes you gain just under a pound. (The 100 grams of glycogen plus the 300 grams of water equals 400 grams of bodyweight.)

This effect is why people falsely think Atkins or no carbs diets make you lose fat at a magic rate.
"Hell... I lost 10lbs of fat in my first week of no carb."
Ehh, no... they lost 10lbs of water in their first week.

Post your diet in the diet section.

    Welcome aboard.

@deadliftingdog so effectively my actual body weight would be the 224 and I gain water weight on my days off?

Thanks I was thinking it's water weight because I get overly bloated and even feel tight in the worst ways.

    Thanks for the feed back

Amazing the differences in how people respond to carbohydrates...seems like you are a hyper responder for sure. Agreed with DD about posting your diet as well as your goals and plenty of dieting opportunities to avoid negative bloating with carbohydrates. Have you been tested for gluten intolerance?
Atkins (as mentioned) carb cycling, rotating the proper glycemic index cards or even keto.

I’m the opposite, if I don’t eat them I flatten out immediately. Understanding how foods react with your body is huge and you’re obviously on your way.

Yeah I wish I understood them better I feel like I need go seek a nutritionist because I'm a dead end I have hit a plateau. I can get under 223 and wouldn't mind having abs one day.

But I also don't follow any diet guide lines as 15 days a month I don't have many choices of what I eat as I work in a camp so we get two choices.

Yeah when I get back to work and a gym I feel weak by the second week all my lifts are back to normal.

At home I feel lazy and lethargic.

This time I was 240 coming in and around 226 right now 13 days in.
