I actually agree with you. I may not think all of your ideas for victory are the best, but this conflict needs to be finished as quickly as possible. A little brutality might even be warranted...

I'm not saying we should go in and kill civilians for no reason, but we should be more brutal, aggressive, focused and motivated....... they are, we are NOT or atleast most of our troops are not.

When was the last major op?? or even minor?? not only do these help but they also raise the morale of the troops...

What about motivation? drive?? rotating the troops?? having the officers go in there and experience 1st hand to know how to command better and hey ur afraid of getting shot? dont salute and dress like a grunt aint that hard to figure out is it??

We are lacking big time, fallen behind, this pisses me off big time and everytime I saw one soldier get sniped it made me angry, we need to act and act fast, there are still areas not secured, still lots of terrorists, lots of IEDS, I dont even know where to start, but I do know that things deff need to change on our side and soon

Ironfreak,are you now or have you ever been a soldier? Just curious.By the way I was a soldier in the British Army for over 20 years and I served in Iraq and went back and worked there as a private contractor.

Where did i ever say the U.S should be 'nice' or ‘talk’ to the enemy? For someone who wants to be Mr. Super S.E.A.L you don't seem to listen very well.

All the things you listed need boots on the ground which unfortunately the U.S don't have at the moment.

I'm very surprised there are not more Urban Warfare Special Forces in Iraq. I am not a marine nor have I ever been, but I do have friends in Iraq and Afghanistan. The biggest complaint they have is there are a ton of them over there, but they are all isolated.

They NEED to be there simply to have the numbers, but the terrorists and insurgents are so scattered and unorganized that we simply do not have the manpower needed to deter them everywhere.

We need more snipers, more counter-terrorism, and more intel. Keeping 10,000 marines in Baghdad just to have them there does not make much sense, but I guess it is necessary to protect what stabilization we have over there already.

Thank you for your service, and no I havent been in the Military before but Im DEFFINATLY joining.

I dont want to quote each individual post of yours so Ill say this:

I might have no experience so far, but I do believe my opinion or ideas count for something, let's put aside the assumption that if someone is a steroid user than he MUST know about steroids.

Example 1: Mike 22 yrs old, 3 cycles under his belt, no pct, dbol only cycle with deca, horrid diet, drinks while on cycle, parites no dedication.

IFX, 19, no cycles, good diet, dedication, knows basic steroid knowledge, pct, certain age, etc.....

You'd listen to "Mike" simply because he has used steroids?? that doesnt make any sense now does it??

Or when Napolean and other great military leaders who were younger, less experienced had won wars and conquered more in these few years than generals have because of their attitude, drive, motivation, tactics, etc......

Might not look like much, but if you read alot about military history, some of the greatest(IMO) and good in authors opinions had NO military experience whatsoever, NONE.

So back to the original topic, does my opinion matter or is it even valid? yes I think it is, how is compared to a soldier in combat, valid but (and Ill admit this myself) I wouldnt consider it over a civilians opinion, I am well read and if the only thing that will qualify me to answer this as you have implied is shooting/stabbing someone in anger then I qualify.

But guess what, thats not it IMO, I have no problem with killing someone, its not that but rather 1st hand experience, knoweldge and intelligence in that matter IMO.

Since My opinions should be disregarded as you say.....we'll continue arguing when I get out then....;)

And I still would like to hear your opinion about this issue as you still havent offered one, you just said my opinion should just be disregarded.

I still don't see whats ur hang up about me wanting to join the SEALs, whenever we're discussing something or in the SEALs thread you keep offering negative feedback about this and me wanting to join and say nothing postive, so in the future, if you can, keep things to the point and personal issues aside.

Almost close to what I want to say.

A better trained militia and smaller in numbers in this situation would be more beneficial than keeping all these troops.

Normally an enemy would be scared of numbers, but we have to understand who the enemy is, how they think, what their tactics are.

They are motivated, have a cause and are not afraid to die, we do not have these advatanges, our cause is weak now, we are not motivated and we have way too many ways to back out which psychologically is not good.

Smaller armies, forces, throught the history have won wars facing armies with more money, more troops etc.....

Am I saying we send out 100 men against 100,000? no ofcourse not.

but Im saying a motivated, better trained, ready to die force smaller force is more effective(again in this case as it has to be evaluted on a case by case basis)

This has been done before and Ill say this from experience, not ANYWHERE close to war but Ive been in alot of fights, one fight we were about 100 if not more, wayy more than the people we were fighting, in this fight, because they showed aggression and skill only four of us were left against almost 20.

I almost lost my life there in this particular fight and this was an example for me when I looked back, that its not the numbers that count, but how you use these numbers, how you fight, how you display yourself, what your tactics are and are they set in stone which is erroneous or are they flexible and shaping towards the situation you are facing? keeping in mind what was proven to work, but still not be blinded by your last victory.

You, me and only a few others might've noticed but alot of others will buy that shit.

That video is personal and anything personal in war is NOT good most of the times, make it personal and you spread hate yes, but also fear, make it impersonal and you spread motivation.

Their tactics are improving like I said before, building legends, myths, people always need an idol, a figure to look up to, to follow and for alot of youths that appeals to them, for alot of us it instills hate, but also fear of death and that hurts us BIG TIME.

I don't think your opinion should be disregarded, my point is that the opinions of people with experience carry more weight.
I actually think that the US is doing a great many things correctly in Iraq.The most important mission being the training of Iraqi Army and Police Units.
In battling insurgents your strengths can quickly become your weaknesses.
People talk a great deal about the need for more troops, but the bigger your force the more soft spots you have. For every Infantry, EOD, Ranger, SEAL, Special Forces A Team outside the wire you have several people working to feed, fuel and inform the operators. These people and their supply lines are vulnerable-the enemy doesn't care who they kill.
Every time you mount an operation you are making new enemies, people do not like their doors kicked in.
So it is a trade off, you need to take out the bad guys with as little collateral damage as possible, and use Iraqi forces as the "face" of the operation as soon as they are ready.
Your home work for this week is to watch Bloody Sunday and the Battle of Algiers, and start reading the Seven Pillars of Wisdom and Learning to Eat Soup With a Knife.

Good point. The soldiers have to do their jobs yeah but stories of people chilling out then on their lawn to be run over by a BFV as it breaks down a wall during a raid. IMO this is a no win situation, just like Somalia, "Thanks for the help.............we'll kill you now!"
