to bad that the net effect of driving a hydrogen car right now is more polluting that driving a regular car. We have to have clean energy production to make hydrogen before they make sense

I wonder how they solved the hydrogen storage problem in the car. If more companies tag along it will atleast create a demand for hydrogen. Atleast one small step in the right direction.

There are universities and R&D centers working on finding new chemical compounds that are capable of storing and releasing hydrogen slowly in a controlled manner but one of universities had stated that it may take at least a decade to find a cheap and reliable method. Another decade will be probably needed to commercially manfucature cars that can utilize the new technology, and by then oil will be cheaper than hydrogen

Public cannot afford the current BMW, forget about the hydrogen powered ones

well since oil can just be pumped out of the ground and hydrogen has to be produced using electricity the price of hydrogen will always depend on the price of electricity. Its only going to be cheap if we have a abundance of powerplants.

But hopefully oil will just keep on getting more and more expensive A dubbling of the price would be cool so that people get moving.

I truly hope the hydrogen thing will work. I believe the world will become safer and consequently people (scientists, politicians etc) can concentrate on more constructive topics than the conflict in the ME and related problems.
