I'm trying to see how he would even lie to make it sound justifiable, but I can't even think of a bullsh!t excuse for it let alone whatever the real intentions may be....

I have no idea, perhaps as a first line of defence, to intercept the missle over europe rather then the atlantic or North America? Perhaps the ICMBs cant reach now but down the line, maybe. I think it may be to suit needs in the near future rather them today.

They are bitching about missle defense but wait until the "Airborne Laser" comes into service pretty soon. They are hooking that bad boy up to a 747 and it will be able to shoot ICBM's out of the skylike fish in a barrel.

    logical

I do not know why the US would make a move like this. Unless they plan on using it's removal as a bargaining chip in regards to how Russia votes in the Security Counsel against Iran and North Korea...

seems like the risk of that backfiering is far to big. It seems like it would just have the opposit effect

russians are not a bunch of dudes that roll over on there backs when faced with challanges.

I would usually agree, but they did roll over during Reagan's presidency after playing hardball for decades. They are a strong people, but this is just politics.

risky buisness to endanger the treaty to reduce stockpiles. But then again I bet neither putin or bush gives one shit about it and would love to have a reason not to reduce them.
