election results
There are 435 possible House seats, 218 seats needed for control.
As of 4:30 am Nov. 08, 2006 House results by network:
CBS News 197 R - 227 D, 11 undeclared
MSNBC 200 R - 235 D, 0 undeclared
CNN 193 R - 227 D, 15 undeclared
FOX 184 R - 223 D, 28 undeclared
ABC 195 R - 225 D, 15 undeclared
There are 100 Senate seats, 51 needed for control.
All networks reporting the same numbers:
49 Rep. - 47 Dem. - 2 Ind.
2 undecided seats that are definitely leaning for Dems.
It pains me to be the one to post this, but any way you slice it the Dems have control of the House and the Senate will be a 50/50 split on most items. BTW, in the event of an even split in the Senate, the Vice-President gets to cast the deciding vote. The only thing that Congress passed this year was the wall. Hopefully, we can get more done in the next 2 years, but that remains to be seen. Many of the new Democratic House and Senate members are reported to be "Blue Dogs", meaning that they are significantly more moderate than the current leadership. Regardless, The President must be readying his VETO pen right around now. It takes a 2/3 majority vote (67 votes Senate, 291 votes House) to override a Presidential veto. Damn, 2 years with Pelosi as Speaker of the House, hmmm.....

I guess this torpedoes all the voting machine conspiracy theories.
