He took the armed forces and built and built and built. He was going to have the greatest military on the planet and bankrupt the Soviets by trying to keep pace.
The missle defense system was started by him and at the time their scientists didnt think we could do it but the leadership was afraid we could. Reagans advisors told him to back off from throwing that in their face but he went in and dictated terms. Thats what ended the cold war..it wasnt going to end on its own.
They honestly did say some of the same things about Bush as they did Reagan. With Reagan they said it was just slick marketing, that he wasnt that bright.
I do admit Bush is not the best public speaker we ever had but that doesnt make him stupid.
