I agree completely with the ideas/theories in the document. It is THE only correct path to lead towards overcoming Islamic fundamentalism in the ME.

The only and most problematical problem with heading in that direction would be the obvious and strenuous objections of Israel. But that is a major component of gaining stability in the region anyway -- the objections of Israel. To head towards peace and stability in the region there has to be a balanced approach to all of the countries involved, including Israel.

I have mixed sentiment on the article. Letting Iran "have" nukes is wishfull thinking I believe, perhaps its inevitable but I dont believe the west is going to sit there and be indifferent to their aspects.

Another issue I find difficult or scary is that this new global threat is faceless or more a propos: stateless. In the past diplomacy was possible yet I dont know if these so called terrorists are interested in negotiating whatsoever. Look at the truce that was made with al qaeeda sympathisers in the tribal belt area on the Afghan-Pak border to no avail. Just a month in the truce is cancelled. These extermists are very hard headed, my way or the highway attitude. Not to say the reciprocal with America is not true. Two hard heads gets nothing done, survival of the fittest.

I dont think there is ever any hope at all to negotiate with terrorists, fanatics and extremists. The only important thing is to make sure we dont get more of them. Get rid of the great satan stamp the west has over there.
Somehow I am sceptical about bombing that stamp away though

Although I could not read the article, wouldn't the US changing its ways to be less "infidel"-ish be showing that terrorism works?
