Interview with jafar d jafar head of Iraq nuke program

Jafar D Jafar was the head of the Iraqi nuclear weapons program.

    http://svt.se/svt/jsp/Crosslink.jsp?...8&lpos=extra_1

Go to where it say "extra material"

    below is two links

Dr Jafar om det hemliga kärnvapenprogrammet i Irak
    and
Dr Jafar om Iran, Nordkorea, kärnvapenspridning och dagens kapprustning

The interviews are offcourse on english.

He among other things say that Iraq was not trying to build nuclear weapons before Israel bombed there nuclear power plant. When they did sadam gave Jafar the order to develop nuclear weapons so that they can be assured such attacks wont happen in the future. Sadam bascily told him without nuclear weapons they can not have a civilian nuclear power industry since israel wont allow that. He claims iraq was forced to start a nuclear weapons program because of attacks.

Offcourse he might by lying his ass off. But I dont se what he would gain by lying like that so many years after when he would not gain or lose anything by telling the truth. He say that the nuclear power plant was inspected by the IAEA. If that is true he might be speaking the truth.

He also states that with the number of centrifuges Iran has right now, if they where connected in the way required to enrichen to weapons grade it would take over ten years.

He has experience with those kinds of centrifues since Iraq had similar.

He also states that if the centrifuges are connected in the way required to highly enrichen uranium its so obvious the inspecttors would se it right away.

It does seem plausible from a logic stand point. I do question why the need for civilan nuclear energy however.

In the interview Jafar was given that question. His answere was that the US built reactors while they where pumping up lots of oil. That no nation on earth relies on one source of energy alone.

Its also more profitable to sell the oil than it is to burn it to get electricity. Building a nuclear power plant is expensive as heck, but producing electricity from it is nasty cheap.

I have to read up a bit more on the Iraq nuclear program someday. If it is like Jafar say and that the facility was inspected by IAEA and run with highly enrichened uranium then it was truly stupid by Israel to bomb it no doubt.

Perhaps Israel coundnt confirm this with 100% certainty and couldnt afford to give Saddam the benefit of the doubt?

Again sellling the oil and building another avenue for self sustaining energy source makes complete sense but you never know with Sadam.
