Russia and the states to cooperate in moon missions
This would be quite nice
http://www.moondaily.com/reports/Rus...rship_999.html
Russia is prepared to take part in the United States' Moon exploration programme "on an equal footing", Russian space agency Roskosmos said on Thursday. "The invitation from the American Space Agency (NASA) was sent to Roskosmos and we are examining it," spokesman Igor Panarin told Moscow Echo radio.

Johan I also read recently about plans to have a fully functioning base on the Moon by 2025 with people working on the moon for 6 months at a time, mining and planning missions from Earth to Moon to Mars. This is what we should be doing, screw war and lets shoot for the stars instead of each other.

This really should be an international if not world wide event, as it effects every human on the planet. I just think that space travel is too large of an endeavor for any one nation to undertake, why not combine resources for the greater good. I really hope that others join in on this as well, working together on something as important as this could really bring nations together.

Well, thats no stretch of the imagination, I can really see this happenning.
Just look at the current cooperation between Russia, the European Space Agency, NASA, the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency and the Canadian Space Agency. Though most people are completely blazé about the whole space thing, it's quite historical to see such cooperation.
Whats even more encouraging is that vice administrator of the China National Space Administration mentionned in a Washington speech that his country would consider cooperating with the ISS (http://www.thespacereview.com/article/599/1)
Can a world wide moon or mars exploration project be that far off?

We might be going towards interesting times The only thing that can screw it up is if a moonbase could have some kind of strategic importance but I seriously doubt it.
Its so stupid when america, europe and russia is doing there own thing with china trying to get into the game. Why should we keep on inventing the wheel over and over. These cooperations are so good.
I want to take a vaccation on the moon before its my time to lie down in the coffin!!

Yeah, america and russia both have big plans right now. But neither NASA nor its russian analog has realy got the funds to make those dreams come true as it is now But togheter they could probably pull it off.
The question is if politics will get in the way....
If we spent one tenth of the money we spend on arms on space instead we would have been on mars a long time ago.

#2 Russia will want to take tourists..
#3 Eventually there will be a fight over moon real estate..

I dont se why it would be a problem for russia to bring tourists? I think its a great thing that russia is allowing space tourists.
The moon is a big place, I dont se how there could possibly be any fight about land in the nearest hundred years or so. Unless we find a rich and concetrated deposit if ice somewhere. But that just shows we need to cooperate. A good agreement that sorts out all those things right away.

You have a facility the U.S. has basically built and your taking untrained people up to poke around. Somones going to get killed and who is going to be the one paying for that? JMO
As far as the real estate aspect we will learn very quickly which parts are most desirable if the mission is serious.

well russia and europe sure has a stake in the ISS and russia has done all of the transports while the shuttle program was done. If they want to use there part as a tourist attraction I dont se why not. I think the people that want to go up has to go through a quite rigorus training program though.
