Evangelist drowns in attempt to walk on water

    30 August 2006
    MIRACLE IS SUNK
A PRIEST has died after trying to demonstrate how Jesus walked on water.
Evangelist preacher Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation he could repeat the biblical miracle.
But he drowned after walking out to sea from a beach in the capital Libreville in Gabon, west Africa.
One eyewitness said: "He told churchgoers he'd had a revelation that if he had enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus.
"He took his congregation to the beach saying he would walk across the Komo estuary, which takes 20 minutes by boat.
"He walked into the water, which soon passed over his head and he never came back."

...or maybe he just didn't have enough faith...

Either way, what a blatant act of stupidity.

From emails, newspapers, magazines, etc etc etc.

I vaguely recall that a few other preachers tried the same feat, with similar results. It really would be better if they'd stick to tricks like making a couple fish and bread loaves stretch to feed the homeless in their city.

So would you say this is evidence that Christianity is flawed, or that humans are flawed?

Well, since ya can't really say exactly what Christianity is because there are so many flavors of it and so many people can't decide on exactly what it is,
it's hard to decide what this event says about Christianity.

If you were to ask about that passage, that scripture in the Bible, though, I'd say it was nuts.

And of course, humans are flawed creatures, full of shortcomings, fragilities, easily fooled, and that an entire of group of people were so completely without critical thinking skills that they were not able to figure out that both the Bible and the preacher were nuts, well no, that doesn't surprise either. The world is full of liars, cheats, parasites, and fools to take advantage of.

It is humans who claim they are great representatives of christianity who are flawed.

I know that and so does he. I've said it so many times that I figured I'd put it in the form of a question to change things up a bit.

    Seriously guys?

the daily record is like the lowest of the lowbrow newspapers here in England, and we got some loooooow-motherfvckin-browed newspapers.

Why don't you put up a story from the national enquirer or something.....probably have more credibility

There's lots of this sort of stuff floating around . . . check out what other wonders have been going on in Nigeria while you slept last night . . .

    His Early Christian Ministry Testimony

As a young Christian, I once heard my pastor say during a morning service that Christians could raise the dead in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believed it with all my heart. And flying around on my bicycle in those days, I went through the city of Benin in search of a dead person to raise to life. After about five hours of hard searching I found a compound where a little girl had died a few hours before. The corpse had been cleaned and prepared for burial. I walked boldly up to the father of the dead child. "The God whom I serve can bring your baby back to life," I told him. "Will you permit me to pray for the child and bring her back to life?" The man was startled, but he agreed. With great enthusiasm, I walked into the room and up to the bed. The child was cold and dead. With strong faith in the Lord, I called on the Lord to restore the child back to life. I turned to the corpse and called it by name, "Arise in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ." Oh Glory to God! The corpse sneezed, heavily, alas. The child had come back to life! (Benson Idahosa)

That's too funny. The dangers of interpreting text too literally. Natural selection at it's best! Hail Satan!
