Why is it ignorant?

Ok since apparently I am completely ignorant I feel I had better explain myself.

I said in the Islamaphobia thread that any muslim countries that aren't third world aren't because the west made them that way. This is the statement that drew the most criticism (not debate mind you, certain lock happy Mods would rather criticize while keeping the thread locked, much easier that way)

Here is a list of all the countries in the world with 50% or more muslims.

* Algeria
* Azerbaijan
* Bahrain
* Bangladesh
* Burkina Faso
* Brunei
* Chad
* Comoros
* Côte d'Ivoire
* Djibouti
* Eritrea
* Ethiopia
* Egypt
* Gambia
* Guinea
* Indonesia
* Iran
* Iraq
* Jordan
* Kuwait
* Kazakhstan
* Kyrgyzstan
* Lebanon
* Libya
* Maldives
* Malaysia
* Mali
* Mauritania
* Morocco
* Niger
* Nigeria
* Oman
* Pakistan
* Palestine
* Qatar
* Saudi Arabia
* Senegal
* Sierra Leone
* Somalia
* Sudan
* Syria
* Tajikistan
* Turkey
* Tunisia
* Turkmenistan
* Uzbekistan

Out of these I count less than 10 which would generally be accepted as being "developed" countries. All of which rely almost entirely on the west purchasing their oil. How is it ignorance to say then that western countries made them what they are?

Here are examples.

4 Qatar "Oil and gas account for more than 60% of GDP, roughly 85% of export earnings, and 70% of government revenues." CIA World Factbook

I could do the same for every one of the developed countries on that list, every single one of them relies on one thing - The west.

In light of this, I would like to ask why it is deemed ignorant for me to say that any muslim countries that aren't third world are that way because we made them so?

Over the last 50 years the worlds largest consumers of oil have been

* USA
* Japan (non-western I know)
* Germany
* Russia and the Soviet Union (debatable, but they are also a producer so have made little contribution)
* Canada
* United Kingdom
* China (I know)
* France
* Italy
* Spain

7 out of 10 of the worlds largest consumers of oil over the last 50 years have been western, all the oil companies that would have first started oil exploration and recovery were western. To say that these countries got rich off the back of the western world is not ignorant. its true.

And similarly I see how someone could argue that our wealth is based our use of their oil, this isn't a valid argument since the UK for example has been a developed and wealthy country since way before oil was discovered in these countries, same for the US and most other western countries.

I will admit I shouldn't have said I wish they'd all go back to their tents/huts...that was wrong, I am however sick of the many who come to my country with no intentions other than to screw us out of whatever they can while hating us at the same time. I DO wish they would all go home, the ones who willingly come to this country in search of a better life, better prospects for their children and who integrate and are productive members of our society are more than welcome.

Now I'm sure this will be locked but at least I got the chance to explain why I said what i did.

Booz lays it down. I say, to each his own, believe whatever you wish, i have certain beliefs and ignorance that I do not bring here, does not change my opionon though, and i'd never try to change someones opionons to my own, but to each his own

For what it is worth, I honestly believe that my last post in that thread was more over the top than any of yours. You are correct in your facts, but unfortunately political correctness takes precedent over facts. The mods are trying to avoid another 'Political forum".

I find the current reality that political correctness takes precedence over facts sickening.

Sadly, as of late it is becoming a problem here at AR -- and that influenced my choice of words in the post you're asking about.
