Hit US television show '24' under fire from Muslim group
Duh, what group would make a more believable candidate for carrying out such an attack? Next they will be mad that the 9/11 hijackers have been reported to be Muslim.

Hit US television show "24" came under fire from a Muslim group, which accused the program's makers of fuelling anti-Muslim prejudice with its latest storyline.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said "24's" season premiere, in which Islamic terrorists detonated a nuclear bomb near Los Angeles, risked stoking racial hatred.
The criticism was swiftly rejected by the show's network Fox Broadcasting, which said the series did not single out ethnic groups to be villains.
"The raw emotional impact of fictional scenes that include widespread death and destruction in America may adversely affect the public's attitude toward civil liberties, religious freedom and interfaith relations," the CAIR statement said.
"The program's repeated association of acts of terrorism with Islam will only serve to increase anti-Muslim prejudice in our society," it added.
Representatives of the award-winning series responded by pointing out that during the show's five seasons villains have included Americans, Baltic Europeans, Germans, Russians, Islamic fundamentalists and the fictional president of the United States.
"The producers are sensitive to the fact that over the course of the series no ethnic group be singled out for persecution or blame," a statement from Fox said.
"In fact, the show has made a concerted effort to show ethnic, religious and political groups as multi-dimensional, and political issues are debated from multiple viewpoints."
CAIR has raised similar concerns about "24" storylines in the past.
In response to the complaint two years ago, Fox aired a public service announcement featuring "24's" star Kiefer Sutherland, urging viewers to avoid stereotyping Muslims.

Its fiction boys and girls, just like StarTrek or Superman.
Interesting that these same groups didnt have a problem with Arab tV shows that portray Jews drinking Muslim blood, or Christians solders eating the flesh of Arab children
24 is by far the best show on TV. ever.Last edited by singern; 01-19-2007 at 03:39 PM.

Um... I can't think of any other group that does terrorist attacks. Maybe thats why they chose them? While it may be fictional, the show is supposed to have a believability to it. And its not hard to believe that a bunch of muslim extremeist would do such a thing as destroy and kill americans now is it. For them to say that a tv show fuels hatred for Muslims and the Islamic faith is friggin hilarious. What next... you gonna sue all the News channels for showing REAL attacks by muslim extremeists saying that it makes people not like them? C'mon... as stereotypical as it may be, its true. Stereotypes don't just happen... they become stereotypes because enough people are like that to make it a generalization. I'm not condoning stereotypes, just making a point. If enough Muslims commit Terrorist acts, then people are gonna think muslims are terrorists. Thats just how it works.

I agree, since 9/11 there has not been one single attack by the IRA on British soil. Muslims fanatics ARE the major threat today in the world. It's just these maniacs finding yet something else to justify murdering innocent people.

Why? Because about 90% of all movies showing IRA members, show them as a positive light, and as victims of the evil bristish empire

I would like the producers of 24 to rewrite the story to make "The Council on American-Islamic Relations " this seasons terrorists.
Do you think that would piss them off a little bit more?

Yeah that shit pisses me off. Americans supported the IRA financially and morally for years, there are plenty of movies that show the IRA as friendly freedom fighters just trying to get out from under British rule.
It pisses me off cuz I grew up on a british army base, where every house came equipped with a mirror on a stick to check under your car for bombs, the IRA weren't worried about blowing up a bus full of military wives and kids, they were terrorists just like any other. Movies like "The Jackal" that portrayed them as "soldiers" made me want to puke.
I was named after a guy who was shot in the back with an american-made, american supplied armalite rifle, he was my dads best friend and only in his late 20s. The IRA were cowardly terrorists, no better than Al-Qaida or any other terrorist organisations. I just wish the guys who supported them for so long would realize that.
