Pat Buchannan has been saying this a lot recently and I personally think that might be in the works. There has been a lot of rhetoric about in Iran in the press lately, a lot of Americans don't like Iran because they seized the US embassy, the US has put an Admiral in command of Iraq, the US has been bringing minsweepers, battleships, careers, and patriot missiles into the gulf. What good are ships and patriot missiles in fighting the Iraqi insurgency? They would be could for bombing Iran's nuclear facility and defending from Iranian missile strikes.

I doubt it, although he obviously does not make policy that depends on public opinion. US is spread to thin now, there would have to be others involved to get the green light on it.

I'm sure he'd get a lot of people to vote for him again, even if it meant sending more troops to fight in Iran (as long as it was someone else, and not them) . . .
