Boston's two swans, on the pond in the Public Garden, are named "Romeo" and "Juliet"... but they turned out to both be females. Ooops!
Last year one of them laid an (unfertilized) egg and they took turns sitting on the nest, trying to hatch it, protecting it, etc... doing all the things that a "normal", heterosexual swan couple would do.
I think "Romeo" was unofficially re-christened "Portia"; after the cross-dressing ******* from Shakespear's "Merchant of Venice".
