Latest USA Today poll shows growing support for Iraq war policy

Latest poll shows growing support for Iraq war policy
    USA Today

USA TODAY's Susan Page reports that President Bush is making some headway in arguing that the increase in U.S. troops in Iraq is showing military progress.

In the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, taken Friday through Sunday, the proportion of those who said the additional troops are "making the situation better" rose to 31% from 22% a month ago. Those who said it was "not making much difference" dropped to 41% from 51%.

About the same number said it was making things worse: 24% now, 25% a month ago.

The number of those who favor removing virtually all U.S. troops from Iraq by next April 1 has dropped a bit, though two-thirds of those surveyed still support the idea.

In the July survey, a record high of 62% had called the invasion of Iraq "a mistake." That view is now held by 57%, roughly where it's been for more than a year.

Who was polled? The soldiers in Iraq or the general public?

You should know the answer to your own question. It is just that you do not want to believe it...........which I find very sad.

    Uh.. ok. Odd response.

The article doesn't specify who was polled. I don't see how the general public would know whether or not a troop surge is "making the situation better" or not, unless they happen to be in Iraq. Nonetheless, the difference in the number is pretty insignificant and still shows vast disapproval in the direction of the war.

Odd response to an odd question. Want to know more, Google it.
And yet somehow, in the past, you have sighted the publics' dissatisfaction with the war. You cannot only use the polls which support your politics...

I don't remember ever even participating in an Iraq thread before, or any citing polls. I'm citing your poll now, that you posted. It says people still disapprove of the war.

The polls say many things. The latest Zogby poll says that public approval for the Democratic run Congress is at an all-time low of 14%, which I might add is much lower than Nixon's lowest rating(24%). Chew on that one for awhile............
