Ron Paul speaks on Israel attacking Gaza (vid)
He seems to always know what is right for the US, must be because he knows what the Constitution is for.

Mr. Ron Paul is one of the only American politicians I truly respect. Not just because he has an educated and just view on the Palestinian/Israeli issue, but mainly because he is an AMERICAN politician who believes AMERICA should mind its own business and worry about its own well being at home, not meddle in overseas affairs. That is how a countryman should feel about his country.

Dr. Ron Paul has an excellent foreign policy view. The video is good, although I disagree with what he said in the very beginning. He said that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been going on for a thousand years. This is just historically inaccurate. There was absolutely no issue until very recently. It is not a Hatfields vs McCoys: there is a clear aggressor and a clear victim.
This idea that the conflict has been raging on for a thousand years--I don't know where people get it from--but it is obviously used by Israelis to cloud and obfuscate the issue. It's like saying "there was no clear aggressor between Nazi Germany and Jews; they've just been fighting each other back and forth for thousands of years."
The First Zionist Congress met in 1897. In the 1880's, there were only 24,000 Jews in Palestine. Palestinians made up 95+ % of the population. In 1914 the number of Jews was only 56,000. To give you an idea of how little that is, there are 4 MILLION people living in the city of Los Angeles alone.
So there was NO conflict at this time. Then began waves of illegal Jewish immigration to Palestine, and then the Israeli terror groups like the Stern Gang, and then finally the creation of the Israeli state in 1947. (By the way, even at this point in time, Jews owned only 6% of the land.)
We need to move away from this idea that it is too complicated for humans to understand. Rather, we need to study history and learn the facts.Last edited by BuffedGuy; 01-05-2009 at 06:13 AM.
