    50k for an oil change?

After reading the tread about the way over inflated soccer contract, I was inspired to post this. I read about it in car and driver awhile ago while on the toilet.

    http://www.autobloggreen.com/tag/lam...ni+oil+change/

In a virtual slap to the face of eco-friendly drivers worldwide, a wealthy Sheikh went to the trouble of shipping his oddly-hued Lamborghini from Qatar to London and back... for an oil change. That is 3,250 miles each way, or about the total distance likely traveled between oil changes in the first place. It's bad enough that the Lambo LP640 is a high carbon-emitter in the first place, but this act truly shows utter disregard for the environment. The shipping companies seemed to agree, with an airport worker saying, "This car doesn't have a carbon footprint – more of a crater." A London-Heathrow cargo handler added, "It would have been far more efficient to fly mechanics out there."

It could be that these things happen more often than the public knows, as David Price of Lamborghini Club UK says: "If an owner wants to service his car in that way, it is his choice. I'm not surprised. Thankfully the age of excess in some areas continues." Lamborghini UK spokeswoman Juliet Jarvis says, "This sort of thing is not unheard of." Perhaps that's true, but it certainly should be unheard of. Coming from Qatar, the wealth which made this purchase possible, along with the ridiculous $46,644 USD is cost to ship, likely comes from oil in the first place, making this story truly come full circle.

that is correct i ve heard about that too, but you have to remember that this people live in a diffrent world of arragance, wealth and fame...etc. they don't think the same way we do unfortunatly that much money is spent on his car oil change that's probably some family salary if they r lucky to get that much money.

There is a huge difference between those who earn their money through hard work and those who get rich without it (i.e. celebrities, Arab royalty, etc.)

Look at Bill Gates. I respect that man for the way he doesn't waste his money on extravagance. At least from what I know about him, he is careful about the blessing given to him by God.

Actually this really does happen alot in the middle east, especially for those people who own many cars that are worth alot.

And what they think is that if they send it out to the UK or US or whereever they will get a better service or whatever and they still have many other cars to use, and cash isnt a issue.

But in this case your talking about in Qatar, he actually had problems with the dealer in Qatar and just got fed up and sent it to the UK for the service + repairing the interior which was the main problem in the first place.

Bro, that doesn't justify anything. It is extravagance, plain and simple. God Almighty forbids us from such extravagance. When Prophet Muhammad [s] was the ruler of an up-and-coming great empire, he [s] did not even sleep on a mattress, such was his distaste for luxury. He could easily have imported the best mattress from the Persian or Byzantine empire...from anywhere he wanted. He could even have at least gotten a normal mattress, if not an extremely expensive one. Instead, he [s] chose to sleep without one, such that it left marks on his body. His response to his disciples when they asked him why? He replied by saying that he was just on this earth for a limited number of days: we should live in this worldly life like travelers. A traveler--who knows he won't stay in the same place for more than a limited number of days--will not spend any time worrying about making his staying place luxurious. For example, if I go from America to Kuwait, and on the way my plane has a stopover in the UK...can you imagine how stupid and wasteful it would be of me to spend thousands of dollars on furniture for the hotel room? I'll be gone the next day, so why would I do that! And if I start worrying too much about my stay in the UK, I might forget that my actual destination was Kuwait, and that the UK was just on the way! Likewise, we are just passing through this worldly life: travel light and know your days on earth are limited. Keep your eye on the prize: your destination, which is the Abode of Paradise.
