Fort Bend rounds up suspects in alleged steroid ring

Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office investigators this morning began rounding up people suspected of dealing in illegal steroids, officials said.

The effort is the culmination of a three-year operation into the illegal activity in the area, said Terriann Carlson, sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

Chronicle news partner KHOU-TV reported about 50 people were arrested and more were sought. People also were arrested in California and Georgia.

Carlson said she could not disclose details about the investigation, but that a news conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. today at the county fairgrounds in Rosenberg when officials will discuss the sting.
