People are gonna do or not do drugs regardless of what the law is IMO. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out for Oregon.

    NJ legalized recreational marijuana.

I am all for a less authoritative governement. But not sure I would vote for legal heroin and cocaine.

    Steroids and weed sure.

    That being said...
People will find a way... legal or illegal.

Well it's not really legal, it's just decriminalized. With the legalization of marijuana, all criminal/legal prohibitions are removed.

Decriminalization just means you can have a certain amount on you and still be within the law. Distribution, manufacturing, etc. are still illegal.

I agree here, i have no issues with PED or marijuana but i just cant see legalizing meth . At any level, same for heroin. I cant see it being “legal” when my testosterone i need for my actual life is considered a class a felony controlled substance i dont get that but hey i dont live in oregon and never will lol

Far less people use steroids than recreational or hardcore drugs. This is about lessening the strain on tax payers and the legal system. How many people are in jail for drugs vs steroids... ideally steroids should be legal all the way, but it’s not a concern for most legislators.

Apparently anabolic steroids are also decriminalized:

I’m all for the legalization of marijuana but I’ve seen first hand the negative impact it has on a community and the accessibility it opens up for kids. My town is a perfect example of it. I was all for legalized weed until I could no longer take my kids downtown for ice cream, because hipsters and homeless are on every corner smoking joints and it’s treated so blasé.
I’ve smoked more than my fair share, but when it was illegal we’d get high in the basement, now it’s everywhere. I don’t think it should be a crime, but I also don’t need my 10 and 7 year old exposed to it regularly either. Imagine what it’ll be like when they’re in high school.

Can only imagine how that will be extrapolated with heroin, meth and crack.

The difference between heroin and PED users is I can all but guarantee we won’t leave our syringes lying around on the ground. It was already a rampant cess pool in Portland, I can’t even fathom what a wasteland it’ll be now.

Again, I’d love to take my kids out for ice cream in downtown Portland (sarcasm) and explain to them why all of the people are nodding off or passed out in the doorways and reminding them to be careful when stepping over the dirty needles and broken crack pipes.

    No thank you.

I’m all for less government as well...but there has to be a line. Imagine the waste of taxpayers dollars when the overdose rates rise and the police are called to break up fights and ripoffs between tweekers and their dealers.

Oh wait, the geniuses there don’t want any police either...or at least they want them defunded. Sounds like an absolute Utopia to me.

    Have fun with that shit.

I think Portugual decriminalized alot too and they treat is an addiction not a crime to help people cope with life as opposed to using drugs and commuting crimes .

I dont understand how any drug was ever made illegal . What one douche said it's bad and that became law ?

Next we need to get rid of backgrounds checks for guns and pass workers rights but I highly doubt that will happen unless there is another shut down .

I don't believe in states constitutions . Give me the one and only original. enforce your freedom on the oppressors .

Also they need to define privileges and freedoms more as the government's doesn't understand if it can be taken away it's a privilege not a right

Yeah I'm very strongly for decriminalization of personal possession of all drugs. If you get caught with a $500 chunk of meth then you're obviously selling it, that should be a punishable offense.

Don't jail addicts, doesn't solve anything, by and large they just go straight back on the drugs when they get released from their $70,000 a year Taxpayer funded hotel. Put that money into safe injection sites and addiction counselors, its proven to work.

In my province in Canada you can't smoke within 3 meters of any entrance to a public place, window of a public place, or air intake to a public place. That basically means you can't smoke in any commercial area, in bus stops, etc. It's great for kids, and you never see anyone smoking dope in public places.

We had stores selling weed openly, putting up billboards advertising themselves even, years before it was legalized, so laws aren't the only influence. HOPEFULLY if they make crack/heroin use legal the cops won't just stand by while people smoke rocks on the local playground, that's anti social behavior, they can still be detained for 24 hours and have their drugs taken because of dangerous exposure to children. I imagine most cops won't let people abuse hard drugs near your local ice cream shop.

As for your experience with dope smokers in your shopping / leisure areas, I would also be very unhappy with that... There's a potential negative side effect to every positive change I suppose.

OR is gonna be a dumpster worse than San Fran

We were out there last year about this time - and, what the fuck - you’re walking past bum villages outside your 300 a night hotel on your walk to Starbucks

And, it smells as bad as New Orleans

Here in CA it is illegal to smoke anything in public unless a designated area basically. Sidewalks are illegal. The smoking age is 21.
One of the few restrictions s that I actually welcome.

    Weird, it shows for me.

It is a picture of a red-eyed & stoned Jeff Spicoli from “Fast Times At Ridgemont High”. I thought it fit well with the posts, lol.

Yeah- coming back with a vengeance. I think that the Dr has my T4 dialed in so I am hoping to shed some of the weight.
