ex athlete looking for advice from other 'older' first time users.

    Hi Gents,

Im a 32 year old ex athlete considering my first cycle . Im no longer playing professionally but wanting to regain that sense of euphoric fitness and strength. My body is feeling the affects of 15 years of almost daily physical activity, and along with several major knee operations, I've had dozens of joint injuries that have remained with me since my teens. On the trusted advice of other older athletes I am now close to taking this step.

But first I was hoping to hear from a few experienced posters about the pros and cons of someone my age and history in starting this line of action.

Outside of muscle growth, what are some other benefits in growth hormones/steroid usage ? I presume that due to the strengthening of surrounding muscles- my joints might appreciate a little less pain ?...Or does the increase of heavier loading in the gym due to strength increases actually put further wear and tear on my joints ?

And any other information you think someone in my position should take on board before going ahead.

Thank you, and I really would appreciate hearing from people who have similar experience in starting fairly late in the game like me.

    DX

Well, it can certainly put increased stress on your joints. When your strength increases at a faster rate than what your body can adapt to, you can get into trouble, this is one of the reasons its best not to use them unless you have been training for a significant amount of time. Other reactions can be increased blood pressure.

How long have you been lifting/training? What are your goals? What is your body fat percentage? Most fitness goals can be attained simply by getting your diet perfected. We have a whole section dedicated to diet.

Been training for 15 years. Body fat 10%. In good nic, but have noticed a loss of mass in the larger muscle groups. Im presuming this is due to the natural drop in my hormones. Im on top of my diet and think the only way i will go beyond my genetics at this age will be with the use of gear.

Thanks for your response, will take it on board.

    Dax.

before starting your first endeavor of gear, have you been working out still? Do you feel like you are at your maximum fitness and cant go any farther the natty way? I am asking cause, you as an experienced athlete will know your bodies limits and potentials. If you haven't been lifting on a regular routine basis for some time then you will show marked decreases in your body's composition(loss of mass in large groups) but if you have been training and are noticing the decrease then it may be time to hit the gear. Remember gear works on the muscles and not so much on tendons and ligaments so you will need to be at the peak of your strength levels so as not the stress them once your muscle strength begins the hit new heights. Have a blood work done before starting so you know where you are health wise.. never go wrong with having one done. Also it gives you a base line if your start noticing problems and can have blood work done again to see what has changed. Btw, I will be 45 in October, on gear and feel great and my screen name is my profession. any more questions shoot me a private message. Good Luck

    AAS use over 45

AAS is terrible to use under age 25. It just ****s up your natural testosterone production for the rest of your life. However past 45 it is like a magic bullet. It literally makes you look 15 years younger. There is little chance of building muscle past 45, without using. Over the past 2 & 1/2 years I put on about 25 lbs. Nobody in the gym can believe how old I am. I only use nandrolone (NPP & Deca ). I have never had any sides and am one of those that is not affected by "deca dick". Possibly because my hypothalamus is not as sensitive as other men. I would never use any other anabolic except testosterone. They are too toxic or ineffective. It is a great feeling to walk on the beach and have a body that is better than 99% of the other guys. Unfortunately, the muscle size gradually goes down because it is dependent on a high hormone level.

Having been a distance runner for 33 yrs., I have had my share of knee injury/pain. I have been in the gym for two years now, and for me, Muscle stengthening has been GREAT!!! The additional wear that you may occur is FAR offset by the benefit of the extra support and motion control the extra muscle provides!!
