    second cycle (polycythemia )

hi guys, if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any at all, let say my first cycle was a complete joke as I might as well been injecting olive oil complete garbage, then I hooked up with a pro body builder and got the real deal so I thought I would give her another go as the first experience was a complete wash, things were going great awesome gains on top of the world, then I began to have shoulder issues and had to back off, was on for about 5 months (I know too long) so I did the whole pct with all your help, I was really tired and neck and chest were always red, cheeks purple, so I went to my doctor to find out what was up, after blood test he rushed me to cancer Clinique to dump some blood, I was there for ever as blood did not want to flow ,my hemoglobin was 226 normal range is 145-180 anyway next day I go back dump another half litre, kept going back for several months now im at an acceptable level again, had to postpone shoulder surgery until blood was back to normal, had surgery all is good, but my question to you guys is , did the polycythemia happen because I was on too long or too high dosing of test or am I that one percent that cant take steroids , reason im asking is because after all that i would like to go on again in the future but at a lower dose and for way less time, also everyone seems to think its ok to donate blood when you on test, I believe its illegal everywhere , thanks inadvance for any advice you have to give

My 2 cents because it happened to me.

Starting out my initial lab going on trt had my HCT at 42..bottom end of normal. I started cycle 2 weeks into trt and did labs weekly. I was on for 20-weeks and my HCT went to 50 at week 18. (gave blood at 500 cc at week 9) Week 19 it hit 52 and I started looking for a hemotologist for a phlebotomy. Week 20 it hit 55 and still was looking. Found one one week off cycle and my HCT was reaching over 57.

They drew 700 CC and did CBC week later...Still 57
Drew 700 more CC and did CBC week later...55 HCT
    Drew 700 more....50 CBC
    Drew 700 more...47 CBC

I asked the doctor wth happened to cause such a spike. He said that low test people correcting their test level have to allow their body to reach homeostasis..because for me all my glands started working again (primay hypogonadal) and it turned on all my body stuff that was not working before.

That said my CBC on cycle now has not gone above 47 and is not a legitimate issue anymore.

What was your test level going into cycle?

As far as donating blood if your HCT is too high they will not accept your blood at most places...believe it or not...because it is a medical procedure and has risk involved.

I can only say that you are lucky to not have had a stroke. 180 is 57% i believe which means 226 is about 67%. If you would have been doing your labs frequently...this would not have happened. It is YOUR life and you could have ended it by saving a few hundred bucks.

But it all sounds about right for not giving blood over 22+ weeks of cycle. If you were one of the one percent you would be dead. Just being serious to you.

thanks a lot for your response, unfortunately I did not have a blood test before all this happened so I have no baseline, I went to a hrt specialist and he told me I have a extremely efficient endocrine system then told me he could not give me anything because numbers were still a bit high at that point, he was a total jerk to me, but my doctor has been great super guy no judgement, was consulting a hematologist the whole time, this threw him as he had no experience with this at all, in Canada we have no place to go get blood checked out other than through a dr script, the other thing is there is a grey area where dr,s are obligated to help keep you alive but will not monitor you in a cycle, I know everyone is different but could it have been the amount I was taking or the length of time on, or maybe the hcg that I took after coming off I was wondering if I went on for a month would it set off another episode, this polycythemia is like a runaway train that cant be stopped, im just wondering if my system can even handle a little extra test at all, is that possible??

im starting to get the impression that everyone is subceptible and its more common than most people would think hence all the blood monitoring and polycythemia is a four letter word in the world of steroid use , had I have known ,thinking I had done all the research .things would have not got so outa hand and I wouldn't have freaked so many people out...
