    Increased Prolactin levels

    Hi everyone,

I just got the results of my blood tests which showed increased levels of prolactin. I am going to visit the Doc tomorrow to discuss about it and how to treat it, however i would be grateful if you could give me your opinion as to how the results look.

    Normal range
    TSH: 1.69 μIU/ml 0.34-5.6
    FT3:4.59 pmol/l 3.37-6.11
    FT4:8.90 pmol/l 7.73-17.65
    FSH:5.77 mIU/ml 0.8-15
    LH:5.78 mIU/ml 0.6-80
    PRL:25.07 ng/ml 1.6-21.4
    TESTO:5.76 ng/ml 2.6-9
    E2 (ESTRADIOL):19.1 pg/ml 0-500

I know that prolaction should be kept low but it seems that sth has got out of hand. The problem is that i have been having some signs of increased prolaction levels since my previous cycle (loss of sex drive despite proviron and HCG ) but i did not pay too much attention. What if the increased levels have been at that point for 10 months now? Can this cause infertility?
    Is it treatable with dopamine?

    Thanks in advance

i think if your prolactin levels were high enough to cause infertility then it would be reflected in your FSH LH and Testosterone levels which are all within normal. yes it is treatable depending on the underlying cause. your doc might want to run an MRI to rule out other possible causes.

hopefully we can get some more knowledgeable opinions on the matter and let us know what the quack says...

I thought the chance of hyperprolactinemia, but i believe (or want to believe) that this is not the case. The reason being the use of AAS that can cause higher levels of prolaction.

If i hadn't cycled i would be anxious since there would be no evident underlying cause.

Moreover, all other hormones look ok. Not at their best (upper bounds) but still within the median range.

What did you run, dosages and how long for?

How long have you been off cycle?

It was a 10 week cycle with the use use of

    1-8: Deca 200 EW (2x100)
    1-10: Sustanon 250 EW (4x125)
    1-4: Anadrol 50mg ED
    12-15: HCG 500iu ED
    12-18: Nolva 20mg ED
    13-15: Vitamine E 1000iu ED
    13-17: Proviron 25mg ED

The cycle started 17/3/2008 (week 1) and ended 20/7/2008 (week 17). I could not find the Doc since he is in a conference abroad and i must wait until Monday.

I was thinking about Dostinex. Would this be of help?

Not to mention that i am going for a sperm count check for sure.

    Thanks again guys

your prolactin levels arent anything to worry about. ive had levels twice as high and brought them down to normal range within 10 days with Caber.

and that cycle shouldnt of affected your prolactin levels at all really. but since your levels are only slightly over... youll be alright

Just came back from the Endo.
She said there is nothing to worry about ion terms of tumour etc. However she cannot know for how long my prolactin has been at those levels and IF this has caused any adverse effects regarding my sperm.

What i did not like is the fact that she proposed no treatment. She said, let it be and re-take a blood test in a month.

I will be visiting another Endo as well. However for the time being i will take 0.25mg of caber (dostinex) every 4 days until the total of 1mg.
