Jay Cutler Looking A Bit Off at Atlantic States
Two-Time Defending Mr. Olympia Guest Posing Shows Work to Be Done
The official flyer for the 2008 NPC Bev Francis Atlantic States Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships shows a grimacing Jay Cutler busting out a chest pose at what appears to be last year’s Mr. Olympia contest. He is huge and shredded, but still was not an overwhelming winner.
Cutler headlined the Atlantic States qualifier contest as a guest poser, and took the stage in lower Manhattan on June 7, not looking quite as sharp as the advertisement. Don’t get me wrong. I know that the Mr. O is three and a half months away, and there is plenty of time to get in game shape. But Cutler didn’t look much different than he appeared during the Arnold Classic at the beginning of March. Shouldn’t he have tightened it up in the past four months?
You don’t win two Sandow trophies by accident, so Cutler must have his training regiment spelled out and carefully calculated. If he did an appearance, let’s say in August, I’m sure I would be eating my words.
At the Bev Frabcis event, Cutler appeared very thick in the middle, and soft in that section, as well. While he did appear to have the size, he just didn’t look like a champion. (You be the judge and let me know what you think about this picture of Cutler.) His controversial wins at the Olympia have cast doubt on him to begin with, so one would figure that he would do everything he can to be a slam dunk winner in Vegas. And maybe he will, but judging by his latest appearance, he still has a long way to go.

I believe he had a bicep injury this year, so he might be a bit off

That makes some sense, then. Hopefully he will recover quickly to prepare to make it three in a row.

Glad to see that I have some others in agreement with me on this. I got killed on another forum for posting this. It was merely my opinion and an observation. I think Cutler looks great. I'm not selling him short. But he is blocky looking and bulky and not symmetrical. It looks like he is ging to come into the Olympia as he did the past few years. If that's what the judges like, then I can't blame him.

1. Cutler
I followed this guy. I think he is a great sport. He works his ass off. He deserved the last 2 Olympias and his only threat this year would be Vic. Lets face it, Victor will be Mr. O someday...

I don't think Dexter will make it due to "size". Personally, I think he looks nuts! He is RIPPED!

flex wheeler had one of the greatest physiques of all time, but shawn ray is DEFINITELY number one in my eyes.

Phil Heath has a nice shape, but his clavicles are narrow. Flex was great, but his calves and delts were full of synthol/esiclene . Shawn Ray? The guy looked almost exactly the same year after year. Victor may be the only real threat to Jay at the moment, but in two or three years Dennis Wolf will be Mr. O. I predict Jay will win one or two more Sandow trophies and then retire.

dennis wolf or victor are my pics for next mr O. Phil heath, i dont get the hype.
I sawa black a white shoot of him in MD, and in those pics i was very impressed, and finally thought i now saw what everybody else seems to see, that he is a phenom. But, i then see more recent pics of him, some from the same show also, and didnt think he looked anything special in the pros

I think that phil is great but there are some things he needs to work on. I agree Victor is def. going to take it one year BUT i also want to see Wolf and Heath up there to. Wolf has got a sick physique and its only going ot improve. Heath is the same way BUT i think his problem may be in line with Ronnies of putting TOO much size on and getting carried away with it.
Id like to see Heath, Wolf, and Martinez in the top 3.

phils clavicules just r not that wide, dont get me wrong his physique is great and shoulders are massive but he doesnt have to taper like victor or dennis
