Did Rychlak get hurt?
I good friend of mine just told me that Gene Rychlak Jr. went for 1015 bench at the Olympia and lost it? anyone know about this or if his injuries are serious... if this is true I hope he is OK... that weight obviously is no joke!

I finally saw the video... the bar rolled on him... wow that is a lot of weight... he never got off the bench from what I saw... hope he is OK! on a side note once again the Olympia announcers look like amateurs not really knowing what to say or do... pathetic it seems the show turns into a clusterf#ck every year!

Just to let you know Rychlak is ok. There is a decent article at

With the amount of time that it takes Gene to recover from each big attempt, how does he progress?! It amazes me that he quips about pushing the barrier to 1100 then 1500, but I think he is in his own world and he is going to meet his ultimate demise on the bench. He is one of my favorite lifter, but there is only so much a shirt can do for you, and he is pushing the envelope. I fear for him if he is going to continue these ventures with custom made shirts with god knows how many ply. If his shirt blows out it is over. for spotter to grab 1015 off his chest or mid bench is tough, but he's going to need more than Andy Bolton and Gary Frank if 1100 pounds are falling at him. God bless him though.
