i'm pretty sure he's a bench specialist.
715 BP raw @ 308. that is no bench shirt. that is fuggin' animalistic.

Mendy goes wild!! Havent heard too much on it, but I called up Mendy and he said he hit 1008. 3 lbs over the previous world record. And yes, he is a bench specialist.

he "claims" to be able to squat 1000 raw, but thats bullshit, and
i would call the guy out on it. the best squaters on this planet can not squat a grand raw. beau morre, over an 1100 squat with gear, 700 squat without gear at shw, if mendelson was able to squat a grnad raw then he would be easily able to get 1300 with gear, which is impossible(at least for now) i call bullshit on mendelson, bullshit!!!! if there is a possibilty of a human squating over a gran raw, it certainly wont be a bench specialist. andy bolton may be ble to come close to itbut thats about it, and i am still not even sure if he could do it

do you consider "raw" just a belt or belt and wraps

When it comes to squat I would still consider "Raw Squat" a belt w/ Knee wraps. The knee wraps don't really add that much to your squat in the big scheme of things. Knee wraps...though they do give some poundage...are still more of a protective measure than anything. Not like a super canvas squat suit that gives you close to 300# to your lift. With my knee problems I have to wrap up w/ anything over 400#s.

RJStrong....
You are right. Powerlifting Gear is WAY OUT OF CONTROL. WAY WAY WAY OUT OF CONTROL. If your bench press shirt won't let half a ton touch your chest????? WOW. These guys are getting close to 300# out of the shirts. That is crazy. I just don't understand where the pride in that is??? I know that pisses alot of you off, but it's true. I think it's awesome that someone can bench 900-1000#. That is impressive because I can't do it. But what gets me is when they start talking about how these guys are the best benchers of all time and how they keep pushing the records. What's pushing the records is that the gear keeps getting better. Do you mean to tell me that if some of the great bench pressers of the past 20 years had the same gear that the guys have today they couldn't be hitting these numbers? Come on. The guys of the past were benching in a basic Inzer Blast shirt. Those guys were getting 40-60 lbs out of their bench shirts compared to guys today getting 250-300#s. Basicly this is the arguement that will never end. It is what it is. All we can say is yes....Gear is out of control.

Glad to see some posters with some sense. You guys are right on. These jacked up weights are not good for our sport....they only make it a joke because everyone knows that the gear and drugs are such a huge part of it.
Glad to see so many people finally waking up and agreeing w/ me.
