Thats really great...
now there is no way I could do that and you have been doing this a lot longer than me...but my question is: arent you using a lot of lower back? I thought you were supposed to use as much leg as possible and then back...does it have something to do with your height ect?
anyway great job

First off, nice lift. If you want my 2 cents, I think the best thing you could do would be get some flat sole shoes (wrestling sneaks or deadlift slippers). These serve 2 purposes: 1) they lower your height, so you don't have to pull as far and 2) They shift your center of gravity back slightly allowing you to drive through your heels which engages your legs more in addition to your back. Your start is a bit high however that may just be your body type. Losing the heels on your sneaks should help and making a conscious effort to begin your pull with your ass as low as it can be. Some other things:
1) Lose the grips (if you're thinking of competing down the road, not to mention the benefit of forearm strength) 2) Try some sumo lifting and see if the form is more condusive to your body type 3) Move your hand placement as close to your legs as you can; this will essentially cause the bar to travel less distance (every little bit helps when your handling heavy weight).

very good info. i appreciate your time. will do on the shoes. i think i hurried into the lifts today bacause the camera thing had me paying attention to it and when to have my buddy start the camera. i was "off" today and nothing felt normal. i will take your advice and keep trying.

Good deal. With the weight you are pulling now tweaking your form will definitely pay dividends. Welcome to 600lbs soon!

Hey guys. I train in reg shoes all the time. When I go to a meet wrestling shoes add 35-50 pounds on my sumo style deadlift. I figured training higher up, would just make sure that I can get the weight off the floor. Know what I mean. i am asking, isn't training with thick soles like training on little blocks?

I agree with the training on blocks...in flat sole shoes. Yes, having shoes with heels does raise you up, but it changes your mechanics as well. If your center of gravity is shifted forward, as it is when wearing sneaks with heels, you are training different muscles. If, however, you train in flats be it normal or on blocks, you are still mechanically using the same muscles.
