    AAU Events?

I know everyone thinks the org sucks, but I wonder if any of you have ever tired a meet and if so, was it run well, fairly called, etc.?

I used to lift in ADFPA, APF, etc. (and AAU back when they were the only game in town), but now that I'm old and grey all I care about is doing a few meets per year as close to home as possible. AAU runs a bunch within 2 hours of my house, and every other year hosts Nationals and Worlds less than 4 hours away. Just looking for some feedback on how the meets are run, not whether the org blows. Yes, I know that they are tested events and that I'm planning on 'cheating'.

I like the fact that your motivated... not sure why you want to compete against guys that are supposed to be clean with the intentions of being gassed up??? W/O out getting into all the reasons why I think this is a bad idea I say just find a meet where everyone is equal and put yourself to the test... I think it will be more satisfying for you in the end. Good luck and lift big!!!

I probably should have said this: I don't think I'm cheating beacuse I can't win. I'm 55, always training around multiple injuries, enter the open divisions, and at 275 would consider breaking 1,600 a good day. I just go to test myself and keep my hand in, my career as a real competitor was over 20 years ago.

gotcha... just competing against yourself is part of the thrill... nice to go for PR's in a real meet where they really count!
