    Question Switching back and forth?

Well I switched to a more BB routine for a couple of weeks and wow did I get weaker. I figured I'd maintain if not up my max just a little bit, but it went down. I did pyramids for my bench/squat/deadlift 15 12 10 8 6 progressing with heavier weights.

Actually bench was the only one that suffered, I am doing more weight on squats now (but my max went down) and deadlift (haven't maxed).

I switched because I didn't want my body to get stale to the workouts, I planned on switching back to PL in a month or so. Is switching to a BB routine for a month or so really this devastating for your powerlifts?

it is quite a shock and it i s normal to drop a little strenght when doing this. for that month or so make sure you use the core lifts in your bbing routine, and i would only stick to a routine like this for 4 wks tops. there are ways of doing hypertrophy work for size but still doing more of a powerlifting based program. for example instead of doing 15 12 10 8 6, you are better off sticking with reps of 6 for 8 total sets and using a consistent non-progressing weight

good advice here doc... I normally turn into a bodybuilder for about a month after a meet (5-6 weeks if you count time off afterwards) and I normally feel weaker... however it is a great time to heal up some of those nagging injuries that we all get from constantly going heavy!

Awesome stuff, music to my ears. I always do core lifts, if I don't get any core lifts in I feel like I didn't work out at all.

I did the BB for about 2-3 weeks, I'll stick with it a week or two more next time, then hit hardcore powerlifting.

2- 3 wks is plenty, do as much as you think you need,no more than that
