If you were not able to sort through all of the linked info, what we do:
Bands: Start by placing a 4x4 on the floor, run a band under the 4x4, pull the band through itself, making a loop around the 4x4, put 2 95+lb DB's on top of the ends of the 4x4 and pull the long end of the band up to the bar. This set up is for a single band only, if you need to use more than one band, you will need to add a third DB to the 4x4.
Chains: Get your "weight" chains cut to 5 foot lengths. Measure the length of bar travel for the movement you are doing. Set the support chain or rope at a distance which allows all the chain, save a few links to be off the floor at the top of the movement, and on the floor at the bottom of the movement. I would suggest using rope for this, as it is: 1) Cheaper, and 2) adjustable so the same piece can be used for benching and squattting.
