    bodybuilding to powerlifting!!!

Hi guys here the situation. I’ve been doing a bodybuilding routine for years now (each muscle once a week) and lately iv been looking into powerlifting. I am experienced with all areas of bodybuilding and AAS but when it comes to powerlifting I’m so what of a rookie so please excuse any dumb questions.

I’ve had a look at several routines and I understand they are all concentred around squats, deadlifts and benchpress but why do none of the routines have any direct bicep work or lats work. Simply because they are not need for these lifts?

Could one of you guys be kind enough to write me up a routine please. I’m looking to gain size and strength.

That’s another question I have. I always thought the best way to add size was to work each muscle one a week but I’ve saw some huge powerlifters who train each muscle 2-3tiems per week. Is powerlifting a good way to add size aswell as strength?

wow! there is a lot of volume in that west side training. one would have to be an AAS user to do that or ristk over training. i am just abiout to start a cycle so i'll give it a shot. thanks for the advice mate.

by the way what about a routine for when i am a off cyle? i couldn't continue with the WSBB routine without over training could i?

there is alot of lat work involved with powerlifting, you need a big back for bench for a better foundation and to stay tight and pull the barbell down...i would stick to any kinds of rows, pull ups, pulldowns... biceps are not involved much in powerlfting...well for stabalizing thats about it...most people dont do biceps but if you do i would stick with barbell curls and hammer curls

biceps are that big of a deal in powerlifting, but you still need to give them a little attention. They come into play during bench press descent and protecting the eblow in DL. You need to also include lat work, its essential for all lifts.

These are powerlifts--full body lifts. You need just about every muscle developed. Some do argue the calves dont matter much, but it never hurts the squat. I include calf specific work myself.

I always throw in a few sets of some biceps exercise at the end of my bench workouts.

Lat work I do twice a week.

Remember one thing if switching to powerlifting especialy westside. None of the sets except in the first ME exercise is to be taken to failure(thats how I have been thought atleast).
I did the misstake of doing all sets to failure and I didnt gain shit because of the overtraining.

Ohh yeah powerlifting has done more for my body than bodybuilding ever did. I would never go back to hitting my body just once a week even if I started doing bodybuilding again.
