lately i work lower back and hams on the same day, so thats when i do deads. if you train hams with quads, you could use sldl's to hit the hams.

I like to work all muscles i need for the squat and deadlift on the same day, because it's all the same. Use the westside methode to plannif your training day and adjust it to your need. For my part i add legs work in the accesory movement. Try not to think like a bodybuilder (and especially don't beleive the things you see in bb magazine, it's not what you need to perform in PL), try to think like a powerlifter, in the way of your mvts (sq,bp,dl), quads are not the principale worker in squat or dead. To get information about westside go on westsite barbell or elite fitness.

What if he wants to bodybuild and not powerlift??

I do my deads on back day, proper deadlifts are compound but they are meant to be a lower back exercise. If you want to do deads for legs, do stiff legged deads and you'll destroy your hammies.

    I'd agree with him.
Another thing you want to keep in mind is what the deadlift does to YOUR body. When I deadlift it kills my hams and lats. Now when some people deadlift its all lower back and glutes for them. We are all structuered differently, find out what muscles the deadlift targets most on you. And dont be afraid to train legs one day and deadlift on another. The little extra stimulation on your back day can only help you.

Maybe you ''stiff legs'' a bit more your deadlift than 'squat down' your deadlift, and for the trap, maybe they are to weak in comparison with the rest of your deadlift muscles. It's all the time a question of what is your weak point. Maybe for your dead you will need to do a little bit of butts work like reverse hyper, pull through... and increase your lats with heavy rowing (you will increase your bench in the same time, strong lat = big bench). And it's not a question of power, maybe you deadlift more than 1000 pounds, but imagine if your weak point come your strongest link.....

Very true, you're only as strong as your weakest link.
