why not see how much you can actually bench rather than how much u can bench assisted
its equivalent to having a spot over you lifting about 1/4 of the weight so u dont have too

Yea, and when trying to see how much ya actually bench ,you may not make any sound and your face should be totaly relaxed .All this to make shure no imaginary spotter helps you.

the sport has to different categories, raw and equipped, i so happen to do both,(clarification,, i used to do raw, now i only do equiped) but not all lifters choose to do this because of how tough raw is on your body. Gene is an equiped lifter period! raw doesnt matter to him, this is where he excells. other lifters like, james henderson, mendelson and glen chabot do raw presses there bests are in the low 700's i believe mendelson has the record at 715(he also used to have the equiped record at 1008lbs)
if to compete in the BEST organizations against the BEST lifters and to put up the BEST numbers, you need to be equiped, it is that simple, i am more proud of my raw numbers than my equiped, but the way the game is set up, you have to use the equipment if you want to be one of the best

That lift did not look good to me. The shirts do help you get the weight off you chest after a pause, but they do not help much with the lock. Furthermore, If we did not wear the shirts there would be a lot more injuries.

I agree with Doc. You can not say that it is like a spotter lifting 1/4 the weight, it takes years to perfect a shirt; u can't just put one on and bench 200 more pounds than you could.

I am thinking about using a squat shirt...you can compete in raw benches, and you can compete in shirt comps...its just two different kinds of things, and shirts happen to be what the records are held at.

ok so i am confused, explain to me exactly what you want to do? there are contests where you can compete both raw and equiped in bench, also you can squat eqiped and bnch raw if you enter seperate categories for both(so it will cost you twice as much) not every org. offers this, but know a few,intrested, PM me and will talk
