My WSB experience and results
I'm so fucking happy I had to post my results 1 day early.
Well I finally finished and here's what's happened.
Being weak, I decided to take up the WSB 9 week basic program by Dave Tate in order to increase strength. I've heard amazing claims to what it could do for you so I figured the only way to see if the hype was real was to try it out.
Some of the exercises were wierd at first and some had to be modified, but I tried to keep it as close to the original as possible. Enough talk here are the results.
When I started: Weight:217lb
Deadlift max: 365lb with straps
Bench max: 265lb
Squat: 275
The results: Weight 223lb
Yesterday:
Deadlift : 405lb without straps. I think I could have done more but I didn't want to use straps so I was happy as hell.
Today:
Bench: warmup, 255,275,285,295, then I said fuck it and put 3 plates up and BAM 315lb! My goal was 300 by the summer and here I am punching out 315lb. I failed at 325 but I don't care, I'm fucking estatic.
Squat:365lb
So in the end: DL +40lb, Bench +50lb, SQ +90lb
For anybody wanting to gain some strength you must try out this routine. It lived up to all the hype and was everything and then some. People were fucking shocked at the gym to see my rapid improvement which really made me happy.
Anyways, enough blab.Last edited by Vegas Kid; 08-06-2002 at 07:08 PM.

Vegas Kid.....
Awesome results! 90lbs on your DL and Bench in 9 weeks is damn great! I am sure you squat will follow suit. Keep up the great work!

Vegas kid...
I just noticed that you are from Columbia, SC. I am from Charleston, SC. Where do you train at up there? I heard they have a gym in Lexington that has the chains and bands, as well as people who train Westside. I believe the gym is www.waitesfitness.com/default.htm

pl jay: Yeah it was raw, I don't own a shirt or anything else like that. I just made sure to pause on the bench.
musc202pa: I'm up at Golds on St Andrews and sometimes at 2 Notch. I used to live in Charleston (downtown for a 1yr). I've heard about the Lex. gym but I haven't made my way down there yet.

Hey Vegas, where can I find that routine. Also, did you gain any muscle. I see that your weight went up. Was more bulk or cut. Just curious.
And congratualtions on the achievement.

Butch,

I gained mostly bulk. The routine in my opinion is really for strength and not necessarily for size. I figure once you have the strength the size will come anyways. Also, I wasn't eating that much so I probably would have gained more.

Thanks RCK and Vegas. I might try this. however, I just got done with a cycle so i don't know if this will help or hinder my gains.

what kind of cycle are we talkin'..... ...if you are talking training program maybe you can slowly start to mix in some of the westside exercises and go from there..if you mean the other kind of cycle then ......nevermind..just messin wit ya'........

I went and edited my first post with my squat results but if you don't read it then:
Well I did my squat today and I got 365lb. I made sure to go below parallel so it would be a "legitamite" squat. This is a 90lb gain in my max from 9 weeks ago.
All in all, I truely believe that my accomplishments are amazing. I'm very happy now it's time for a break.

Yeah, I wish it would keep going up like that all the time, I'd be benching 1000lb within a couple of years. Too bad it doesn't work like that.

hey man way to go on ur westside routine. I remember when I first switched over to westside I made up one of my own 6 week cycles. (with the help of GRIMMER, PLJAY, RCK aka THE MANN over at elite) I started with bench 225 deads 300 and squat 275. After the 6 weeks I did bench 255 dead 365 Squat 315. So your first cycle is always the best. Just remember to keep variety up with excercises and don't do your ME lift for 2 weeks switch it every week that's what i've learned. Some say you can do it for 2 weeks but you get disappointed when you either get the same weight or less the next week, trust me talkin experience here.
