equiped training for raw bench press????
just wanted opinions..... it does not sound right to me but i figured i would ask
i have a guy i work with who claims training equiped/shirt for a ten week program will help my raw bench..
i want to compete raw not equiped.. so any new training ideas i'm always open for..
ps. the guy that told me does have a 585lbs raw bench press so i'm thinking there is either some truth in this training idea.. or just something that works for him.
my bench right now is 450 (give or take five pounds).. wieghting in at 205, but will try competing in the 198lb class, wanting to try my first meet either mid july or early august

it has worked for me, but it was just an added bonus when i was training for an equiped meet.I wouldnt recomend this as way one should train for a raw press since both techniques are different. i would recomend though getting a pair of jump stretch bands and attatch them to them in a power cage using the pins at various heights, slide a bench in the cage and press. reverse band presses will still give you the ligthened method you want to achieve and be able to maintain and practice your raw bench press form

I would use a bunch of excercises such as floor press, board press, cambered , etc. I would throw a shirted bench in every 4-6 weeks. It will allow you to overload weight. Dont do reps in a shirt. It leads to injury. trust me.
