Why are SLDL inferior to GM's?
Does anyone know why GOOD Mornings are better than SLDL? is it just the bar position that changes the leverages or something?

Well not sure exactly, but I do know that when the bar is in a sldl that the bar is closer to the legs making them easier on the posterior chain. When you do a gm the bar is positioned farther from your bodies axis of rotation so they are harder on the posterior chain.
Damn, and I thought Dynamics would never come up in real life!

I think GM's are more for the lower back, while STDL's are more for the hamstrings.

there are a thousand different types of gm's (chamberd bar, chain, bands, off pins, off chains, round back, arched back, seated), and there are 2 different types of SLDL'S that I know of...but I do think that SLDL's and RDL's work the hamstrings better than arched back gm's
gm's are safer, and most peaple dont have the flexability to keep there back perfectly streight to do a SLDL, so they round there back, which is incrediable dangerous when using heavy weight.

Why not just do them both? I have made good gains using both. It think someone mentioned before, that I feel the GMs hit the low back better, and the SLDL's hit the hamstrings better. I think its a good idea to have them both in your training cycle.

Deciever,
The main reason GMs are more effective than SLDLs is because though sldls will build good lower back and ham strength it will not develop hip strength and lockout strength like GMs.
Example: someone who in a deadlift gets the bar up over their knees but can not lock out at the top due to lack of hip strength.

Well I personally do feel SLDL more in the hammies but I somewhat FEAR GM's since I came close to having a herniated disc doing them so I alternate them every 3 weeks or so I'll do them either seated or with knees bent. (for some reason can anyone explain I can do MORE on the GM with a pad on the bar than I can with nothing on the bar??)
