Doc.....
Im going to max out, 1 week from this up coming monday as for my boy does chest on mondays and wants to hit double his body weight. Now my question is, this upcoming week, what weight and rep schedule would help me prepare for it. I know theres no absolute but was wondering if I do chest this monday how hard should I go and should I throw something in latter in the week a few days before? Thanks.

i would completely skip chest this wk. if you want to find out where you are, dont lift this wk. if you must lift and you dont want to listen, the most i would do would be to use 50%of your estimated max for6 sets of triples and do no other upper body auxillary exercises

Doc is on the money here... the best thing to do before a max effort day is rest the previous week. Key muscles that need rest... Triceps, Lats, shoulders, chest. Even a real heavy squat day can throw off a max effort bench. Good luck bro... let us know how it goes!

Alright, I only train 3x ew now, but Ill be honest it will be tough for me to stay away, I just got dialed in again, so Ill cut my training in half and maybe do lighter weight explosive reps. I already can hit double my body weight so he's trying to catch me, so this doesn't mean too much to me, getting back dialed in after 2 months totally out of the gym is everything. Thanks buddy , appreciate it.

definitely, doc and Rj are veterans to the powerlifting game and got it. the week of the attempt rest and chill.
