A warm up is a warm up. You are basically getting the yourself ready for a Max attempt. I like to do 1 set up push ups and 3-4 sets of barbell weight.
You do risk an injury with no warm up before a max competition lift.

I warmup for 2 reasons, to get blood circulating and to get used to the weight. It is not a time to wear yourself out. Do not leave your best lift in the warmup room.
135x6 225x1 275x1, shirt on 330x1 and open with 380

opener. i pick a weight i know i can get no matter what. a good idea is to do something you know you can do a double or triple with easy or you can chose to use percentages. 90% of what you want to hit.
2nd attempt i shoot for a new personal competition best. NOT a personal gym best! what you do in the gym and what you do in a contest are 2 different things. lets say your best contest lift is 575, i would shoot for 580-585.
3rd attempt. if you missed the second lift, repeat the weight if you hit the lift go for broke and put on what you want. go big and see what happens.
my last meet at 198lbs. first attempt 510. i tripled this in the gym so i figured it was a safe bet. real easy lift
2nd attempt 555. easy again. harder than the first lift, but still fast. i wasnt concerned about a personal record. i played it conservative to save my strength for my third. a new pr for me would have been 580. i wanted 600. since those numbers are so close, i didnt want to hit 580 and use up too much strength for my 3rd at 600 plus
3rd 605. got it half way up. missed. even though i failed, it was till a success. i got to feel the weight in a contest setting. that should remove some fear next time i attempt the weight since i have tried it and came close. i missed the lift at about a 3 board height so i now know i have to work the 3 board hard and my triceps as it is my new weakness. so the missed lift does a lot to prepare you for the next time. no attempt is a bad attempt. figure out what went wrong and what you need to work on.
