WPO this weekend!
Ya know i get a call last month wanting to know if i need a room reserved for New Orleans for the WPO Bench Bash for cash from Jamie at Huge Iron productions. I say (and this was the final decision) No. I am not doing it this year. This contest was the first time my wife Really wanted me to compete. Normally she is supportive of what i wanna do, but when i backed out she was actually kinda mad! Well low and behold this weekend cost me 3500 bucks!! Same as the Arnold would of last year. But my dam opner would have won me 3500 bucks. Hell at 242 i would have won some cash also. Next year i will do the big ones. But like i told my wife , i could have went and with my shoulder like it is i could have bombed. So i personally am glad to know i can win when i do pro meets. But am actually glad i sat it out!
Results so far for the bench bash for cash are
Mendolson hit 780 and missed 800
Zemmin hit 722 i believe.
Clay Brandenburg hit 722.
Brad Kelly is knwo the number 1 242 with a 650. Congrats!!
Bill Carpenter couldnt get 655 on two tries.
Reni Immish won middleweghts with a 595. and 3500 bucks!
Not sure on light weights yet.
Full power meet was so much, the results are on www.goheavy.com in the debates forum.
It seems as though alot of the top dogs of powerlifting did really well but missed their marks by quite a bit. Most of them in fact. Looks like openers only for alot.
Hey Chad if you could post results here i would appreciate that. I dont knwo how to copy from one place and move to another. If not i will get them up soon for those that dont wanna go to go heavy!

I went to it, and it was awsome!!!!
there was so many HOT chicks there
Every body in the place got up and was cheering on Scott when he went for 804, he got it 3/4 of the way, but couldn't finish it.
They were giving away a ton of supplements and tee-shirts, I got two big bags of stuff.

Ya those expos are awesome. I was at the Olympia and i got a ton of shit as well. Lots of chicks!!
I think no one is close to Gray Frank. He still did a higher total then anyone else has ever done and he got opener squat and bench. He is the man by far!
Ano had a off day. I guess he got only opener dead and his tricep must still be hurting. He has benched 600 before.
Brent Mikesell had a bad day too. But this shows goes to show you that this IS the elite. Two openers for most of them and they still post huge numbers.
Joe Ladnier had a off day with 100lb off his bench.
Now i dotn feel so bad for going 4 for 9 in my last and 3 for 9 the one before. But thats because i suck!! I wish would have been there to watch these guys lift. Its meets like that , that keep me wanting more.

HOLY SHIT you know it's fuckin sad thinking your a bad ass then you come and see the MONSTERS that are out there and then you feel just plain shitty.
OH WELL gotta keep liftin. CONGRATS TO GARRY.
WAIT wasn't the OlD record 925 by GARY HEISY, what's UP with fuckin WR and Garry's.
THATS IT I'M CHANGING MY NAME TO RYAN GARRY MIKESELL. THEN!!!!! I'll have the BIGGEST Total. LOL
-
11-10-2002, 08:16 PM #8
Ya know whats scary? Those three you just named, if they were to lift as one man they have a 2810 total!! Thats fuckin insane!!
-
11-10-2002, 08:35 PM #9
JAY it'd be higher than that I believe if you say mikesell had a bad day. And we know RYAN CAN hit more than 800.5 BUT it's tru what your sayin that's why maybe if I change my name to that i'll hit 2810!!!!!
.......AND THEN I WOKE UP

I just rememberd,
there was a midget there, his name was Markus Schick and was from Germany. He benched 520! and was in the 165 or 180's, I cant remember
I think frank can hit 2700, if everything goes right and I think 2800 might be a reality in the future.

Go to www.finnishpower.net/ they have the results there. They are in kilo's. Just multiply by 2.2046 to get the American friendly pounds equivalment
Also Irish competed this weekend. I will let him do his write up, but I will say that he benched more than any of the 275's at the WPO! Pretty impressive!

Garry Frank is still the KING!!! He had a badly off day and still beat everyone by over 100#. And deadlifting over 930.......WOW.
Matt Smith it looks like also had an off day. Too bad, he will be a big time contender before long!
It's not posted here, but Chuck Vogelpohl squatted more than any of the SHW except Frank and Mikesell!!! Fucking incredible!!

What were Vogalphol's numbers?
Cubanito i took those three lifters best lifts. Squat 1075 Mikelsell, 800 bench Kennelly, and 935 dead by Frank.
The midget Markus Shick has actually benched 562 before at 150lbs. He is a great bencher!

If i have read it right , Chuck got a 964 or somewhere in there. I thought he would be over a grand but we all have bad days( not saying that 964 is bad i think that is unreal for a 220'er).
