Board press improvise with power rack and pins?

Use J-hooks to set up the standard starting bench position, and position the pins at either 1,2,3 or 4 board level, descend the bar to the pin, pause, then ascend.

An improvisation for someone on the own and without any boards.

I can't see why this wouldn't work the exact same way as a standard board press, but would like all your thoughts.

I've done a variation of a 2-3 board press where I put a foam roller under my shirt and press off of that.

Boards are done almost violently, these are OK, but not the same. I prefer to go bottom up. Bottom up with band tension is good as well.

I remember Louie Simmons stating the difference has to do with balance issues because of the fulcrum the board present. Its suppose to activate and strengthen the connective tissues in the upper chest... or something like that. LOL!

In the rack isnt as good for bottom balance strength.
