Your openers should only be about 80-85% of your training max. You don't want to bomb. So make sure you get your openers. It's better to start light than too heavy, because if you miss your three attempts, you meet ends there. Bring food, water, gatorade, and painkillers, LOL!!!
alright thanks.
do you know what a 190 lb. 18 yr old should be benching. deading. ect...
just so i have a round about idea
Couple of questions:
Are you competing in a RAW comp or a geared comp?
How long have you been lifting?
What's your athletic background?
What kind of genetics do you have?
idk what kind. its a apf powerlifting meet
ive been seriously been lifting since 7th grade
ive played football for years than stopped to wieghtlift
and i guess id say im a mix between a mesomorph and a endomorph
Since you don't know what kind, I assume its a RAW meet.
So, I have a 17yr old 190lb son, he's one of the top high school linebackers in the country so I'll post his lifts, but rest assured these are high numbers for elite athletes (I also train these type kids in high school and college). I'll also post the low numbers of newbies that I train.
My son (elite)
Bench: 305lbs
Squat: 475lbs
dead: 450lbs
advanced
Bench: 225lbs
Squat: 350lbs
Dead: 405lbs
Beginner:
Bench: 185lbs
Squat: 315lbs
Dead: 315lbs
Alright. I guess im a beginer
Bench-335
squat-455
dead-425
Well according to my stats I should do advanced but this is my first comp.
Since you're 190. I'd rest this week or do some very light lifting. Eat as well and as big as you can. Rest as much as you can.
On meet day, just have fun. It's your first one so everything is going to be a meet record for you. Make some new friends, enjoy the atmosphere.
Make sure you understand the all of the rules for each lift.
Good luck, don't worry about the numbers that others are putting up just worry about yourself.
Ok cool thanks. Deff going to take your advice.
what's yur intake on ammonia caps?
ammonia caps are good. Not a necessity but definitely work for comp days. I'd avoid them in training unless you are maxing out quite frequently (which you probably shouldn't be doing anyway), because your body does build up an immunity to it.
im confused, have you actually been peaking for this comp or just entered on a whim?
Good luck kid. My senior yeah in highschool I took second in state. squat 600 bench 380 dead 550. I took second in state that year.
ill check them out...i heard yu can get a heart attack from them. do you think they are dangerous?
and i just entered at a whim
and holy shit...thats crazy lol my 250 bro does tht.
he does
600 squat
450 bench
we nvr tested his dead though buht he does 405 10 times clean
I haven't seen anyone have a heart attack from ammonia caps, and I've been competing for over 20yrs. I'm sure someone can find an article somewhere with someone dying after snorting some caps. But I haven't seen it. If you aren't used to using them, though, I wouldn't give them a try on contest day. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't try anything new during a contest.
And just the reminder for the newbies here, please don't post any outrages high school lifting claims without some video evidence. Someone is bound to call you out. This is the powerlifting forum, if it wasn't video taped, it doesn't exist. Not meaning to be a d*ck or a$$hole.
lol alright ill try after the comp.
and alright i hear yah.
