World Championships at age 60.
My last competition in Australia at age 50 I totalled 588kgs. I was state champion 3 years, Suncorp champion and failed in the Australian masters as I bombed my squat, I was ranked no 6 in the Australian Open division and was clean of all steroids . I am looking at what can be done with them as I know I am stronger now.
The WPF world record is 660kgs total at 100 kg bodyweight and age 60.
The individual records are now;
Squat 230 kgs
Bench press 172.5 kgs
Dead lift 305 kgs
My squat was 230 kgs but the leg has been fractured so I need to work on it. My gym (promise) a squat rack. As
My bench sits at 140 kgs raw, a shirt will add a fair amount, I need a shirt as all my old gear was left in Australia. It was a 42 inch Titan. My chest is about 49 inches. I only ever used a single ply and am not sure what I can use here. Maybe somebody can tell me.
My best Dead Lift this tear is 270 kgs. I must get that up to the 300+ mark.
The reason for this post is I need to get back the intensity and determination I used to have by setting a definate goal. It is no good me saying I was good, I must prove to the world and my self again I am still able to push myself to the limit and beyond!
I intend to update this post over the next 2 years and once I get a decent camera show you the results. Please help me with some positive feedback. I am driven by a longing to prove to myself that I can. I refuse to lie down and wither when I can rise up again.
Whatever the outcome I need to be able to look myself in the mirror and say I tried.
Thanks everybody

Thank you every body, I did 3 hours chest, shoulders and arms last night. Mot so good the 140kg on the bench went up half way and stopped. Last week it was easy! Funny thing was a seated military press with the same weight was easier.
My mate who owns the Gym is getting a power rack so I will start some light squats today. My body hurts a lot cos I did overloads last week as well. Like tried to bench 190 kg. Near killed my wife.
I feel great because I have a purpose now. I just need an extra 30 kg per year on dead lift! Any power stack you can recommend? Maybe I need a download and reload. Must eat more to keep my weight the same. I like the 100kgs. It feels the right size for me now.
Thanks everybody for your help and please do remember, I started very, very weak, its taken 34 years to get this strong. This is a very long and exciting journey. Anybody can reach the same levels, Just patience and 15 to 20 hours a week for 30 years!!! Ha! How did I get so old so fast! Just lovin life.
Thanks again, Regards John

At age 60, that's very impressive. You should post some workout vids. I hope I'm still able to do this stuff at that age. You mentioned a shirt and single ply, are these equipped records?

Nice numbers. I'll be following your progress. Keeping pics online where everybody can see them was a great motivator for me. I had let myself turn into a fat slob so last year I posted my fat self with no shirt on and kept updating the thread every month. Not only was my progress easy to see for myself but knowing other members could see it, too kept me on track. I'm not 60 yet but I'm in my 40's and I thought (last year, not now) my age would prevent me from lifting like I used to. Horse poop. Ignore, like kel said. Age is a mental condition mostly.
GL on getting the record

Thanks everybody. The lifts I mentioned as my current best lifts this year were all raw. Just a belt no wraps or shirts.
Yesterday I put on a squat suit, first time in 7 years, I am all bruises today.
I only squated light for 2 hours. I have grown so stiff it's hard getting the bar low on my back and the legs hurt so much. Easier raw! But I want to use the suit and a bench shirt. I used to find the biggest help came from a bench shirt and it got me 157.5 kgs when I could only do 120 raw.
I feel the other suits are more for protection and leg wraps also make a huge difference. Again its been years and while I am just using light weights no need. Once I get back up over 180kgs and repping I will use them.
One good thing, Once I started to squat the pain from the screws the doctors left in my bones went away!!!! That's wonderful cause they alway hurt. I think they need to be shown just who is in charge. (HAHA)
I think my bench was down a bit cos I finished the other day doing 25 reps withh 100 kgs. Just trying to shock the system. Last one my wife had to help!
Now all pain is just recovery, there are no injuries, it's nice not to train round hernias etc. WPO have responded to me and suggested I try to get a Thai team! I will give it a go, maybe it's possible. They love the Muay Thai, UFC just had a night here and I will see who I can find. Thai people would love to watch a competition. They are always really nice and try to help me train. They are all Impressed by the weights. They are very shy but are so good if you ever need help. They are a most helpful people, if they like you. Otherwise you do not exist!
So today just a light workout then 2 days heavy on bench then Dead lifts, See what I can do now. last time I peaked the deads was 9 months ago. Please everybody have a great weekend. Kindest regards, John

Injuries! I think come from I think poor warm up and inconsistancy. Its so important to always push on and keep training. I have over the years injured myself 3 or 4 times. 3 from not warming up dead lifts enough. One was due to a squat where a hernia Kinda burst at the bottom. As there was only my daughter there I managed to stand up. I was on morphine 3 weeks before a doctor operated. Australian heath care.
My only other injury is from a motor cycle accident and after 2 operations I still have the broken screws in my legs down near the ankles. They hurt.
I train hard so I remain warm. 3 hours does not seem long!
2013 championship is Chicago and 2014 is France so I will have to see where I will be. Hope I can get some Interest from ASEAN Nations and see if we can do something here. I have been asked by WPF if this may be possible. Thanks again. John

Video0000 - YouTube
My first attempt at a video of a few rather poor efforts yesterday. The film of 130 kg did not come out!

Video0002 - YouTube I finish with reps and then Video0000 - YouTube as I fail 137.5 kg bench. I took a video of dead lift but had problem with cam. Slow to get back strength but got 235 kgs, will do 250 kgs next week. I must buy video cam so the pics are ok.
I am starting to get more motivated so I hope to do the 140kg bench on Saturday! Just got to keep on trying. Good luck all. John

That's awesome. Good luck on your road back. Regardless of time missed, it's a blast getting back into it again. I thought I was done after wrecking my back, but after 10 years, I said F-it! and I'm almost back to my numbers.....The only problem is my body weight is higher.....
Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. And, it's not about what you did yesterday, but what you're doing today. And what I mean by that is regardless of what you're pushing up in the gym, it's a hell of a lot more than if you were sitting around on the couch.
I look forward to reading your log.
Cheers!
