I can max more often on cycle. Its the only time I do usually. Heavy singles are a useful tool but listen to your body if its too much back off and do speed reps with half your max and bandwork or chains
Never max on anything. I got all my injuries doing weights I could rep 4/5 times. Can’t even imagine doing 1 rep maxes these days. That’s for kids with fresh joints and tendons who don’t know any better.
I never do 1 rep max, it has the biggest risk of injury. I do often train with 3 rep max. If you do a weight for 3 reps its not hard to calculate your 1 rep max also so no point in doing it imo
Sadly, because I am mentally weak, the number of times I get close to my 1RM is directly proportion to the number of hot women within view on any given workout.
Coincidentally, the number of times I get hurt doing something foolish is ALSO proportion to the number of hot women within view on any given workout.
So powerlifters only do 1rm at meets?
