Hmmmmmmmmm! bigkev, how old was Arnold when that first colored pic was taken? Is that him during his PEAK but off-season? Or when he was younger and smaller?
-
01-27-2002, 01:04 AM #10
when arnold was younger they didnt have color pics. its circa, 73-74'.

My bet is that the offseason pic of Arnold is from circa 1977. In other words, it was taken a couple of years after his 5th win in South Africa and well before he decided to train for the 1980 Olympia in Australia. So it's not really an "offseason" pic in the modern sense...

Didn't Arnold injure his knee while posing in South Africa (I think)? He mentions in his book that the posing stage fell under his feet. He says his thighs went down from 28" to 23" in a few weeks, and one year later he was still squatting just 135 lbs, or something to that effect?

I'm pretty sure that Arnold injured his knee while guestposing in 1971. He relates his conversation with his doctor in which the latter told him that the knee would heal and be stronger than ever...

In the first encylopedia of modern bodybuilding, Arnold has an offseason pic of him at his hugest. He is gigantic in that pic!! I don't know what you guys are talking about, but he had the biggest arms I'd ever seen in that pic!

Yeah, but this is way after hecompeted, by the looks of it is dated the same time he did Twins or something. And the pic BK posted I think would be after 1975, when he won Mr.O in SA and said he is retiring. I believe he took 2-3 month rest periods after big competions, then started heavy on AS, upped the mass and about 100 days before the show started his "quality bb split"

Arnold looks good even when he's is small.
That picture of him at 16 shows the potential that he eventually reached.
I like the one of Arnold after he retired. Heck if he stayed that small and lean he probablly could have broken into movies sooner ... maybe that's why he got small and it didn't work for him. Who knows? Well the Oak knows best.

I just dont get it. How is it humanly possible to look to small in the offseason and transmogrify to his godly ripped competition physique? It's not like someone cutting down for a contest... we're talking 50 pounds of muscle difference (if those pictures are indeed real). Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting the validity of the posts, its just sad to see the opposite of our goal (ie, someone getting so small after being so big...)
I also heard somewhere that arnold trains only 3 months out of the year? Can someone make or break this myth for me?
Personally, since the moment I saw pumping iron, it just confirmed to me that arnold was truly something special. The charisma and the character is unbelieve... like that time he taught that dude to scream for the mr. munich !!! I laughed hard for weeks!
ciao
